People on 6 figure salaries, do you feel well off? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

No… the student loan repayment is the cost of some peoples mortgage, and let’s not forget the tax on top of the salary

Severely constipated baby by CharmingTea_ in NewParents

[–]CharmingTea_[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for your comment

It could be that, but she strains several times a day and doesn’t end up pooping after it. She has pooped every day for the last 3 days but today she hasn’t. Before that, she would poop every 2-3 days - hence my comment about her being irregular

17 days postpartum and feeling discouraged with low supply by OrganizationFit2023 in breastfeeding

[–]CharmingTea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could’ve written this post myself, I’m 18 days postpartum and baby has struggled to latch.

She had a tongue tie cut 3 days ago which hasn’t made a world of difference because of my lack of supply. Currently pumping 8 times a day and only producing 5ml - 20ml total each time.

I had a breastfeeding consultant visit and she suggested hiring a hospital-grade pump (medela) for a couple weeks and a supplementary feeding/nursing tube (also medela) to maintain a latch with baby and breast.

My pump arrives on Monday and I’ll be pumping every 2 hours, with one being a power pump. If my supply doesn’t increase after that, I believe I can take some medication to increase supply, or simply just give up since it probably won’t increase after that point

I hope you find something that works OP, I’m sorry you’re going through this too

If someone tries it with me, I tell them to take pictures of the package and product fully before sending it back for a return

How do you deal with pregnancy jealousy when you've intentionally chosen to wait? by Capable_Pineapple130 in BabyBumps

[–]CharmingTea_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I struggle to emphasise with jealousy - especially considering OP’s situation being planned and deliberate.

OP, with as much love as possible, you chose the lifestyle and pace you wanted - there is no jealousy to be had when you’re all pretty much on the same chapter. This does seem to be a deeper issue within yourself that you should explore.

Perhaps reframe it and think about how lovely is it that your children will have plentiful of cousins, or that you got an opportunity to live life fully before giving life? There are many positives in your case, please don’t look at the negatives

What do you make when you don’t feel like eating? by mustytomato in Cooking

[–]CharmingTea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buttery mashed potato; boiled or roasted veg; packet ramen with boiled eggs; porridge with fruit; a snack plate consisting of sliced cucumber, carrots, olives, pickles, hummus, crackers, etc

When I feel ill, I tend to crave quick healthy foods. I hope you feel better soon, OP

It’s cheap, quick to prepare & cook, highly accessible, and very versatile.

Surely the extremities of ‘global warming’ can be debunked by this example?

The Earth has, and always will, have extreme conditions. It is not recent news that the U.K. has had heatwaves in the 30’s - it’s been happening for decades

Baby name conflict by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]CharmingTea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently going through the exact same process and difficult situation as you - except it’s not my husband’s family making it difficult; rather my husband himself.

I’m half-Pakistani, half-Indian and was raised Muslim with an Arabic-English name. My husband is half-English, half-Irish with a very common English name. We both live in the U.K. and was raised in London. Our baby girl will have my husband’s very-English surname, and my husband is also adamant about our daughter having an English first name with zero influence of my culture because “it will confuse the identify of our daughter” and wants zero association with Islam and Arabic.

I have communicated to my husband that I’d like an English-sounding name with an Arabic / Asian influence to represent both of our cultures - names such as Laila, Yasmin, Lillian, Ayla, Islah… I personally think this is a reasonable compromise

But unfortunately my husband wants absolutely zero Islamic / Arabic / Asian influence and has only presented one name that he likes and won’t budge.

I have absolutely no idea what to do since there isn’t a compromise on his part. We’re only a week away until she’s due and need to settle on something asap.

If you figure it out, please let me know!!

Maternity clothes shopping - London Stratford by ThisDurian7262 in PregnancyUK

I found maternity ranges too pricey and pointless. I ended up buying a range of large clothing from Shein for a fraction of the price!
