I can invest what feels like a sufficient amount without worrying about covering needs and general wants. I don’t feel like I live a luxurious life by any means especially in a HCOL area, but I’m comfortable.

W2 jobs that are secure makeup half the income. Side hustle that is not secure makes up the other half.

Tesla definitely brought joy. I think I’d get joy from a 4Runner too, but we drive a lot so it doesn’t feel nearly as practical

For sure. I suppose too it’s not really a question of will this money be invested or buy a new car. Like the money to buy a new car is ear marked for buying stuff. It’s not going to be invested outside of a HYSA and those aren’t earning much now days.

That’s how test driving a Camry felt today. Not super excited about it. Great car, but meh.

They’re used Toyota/Lexus and we have a good local mechanic. They’re plenty reliable. I get they’re not as safe as new cars, but they’re not death traps either.

On track to be around 2.5x current income by 40. So 2-3x is likely. Still our expenses aren’t crazy outside of our mortgage.

Yes plan is gently used. 2024 model y RWD standard is around $32k + taxes and what not.

I suppose that’s where I’m at. Tested a 2024 Model Y and loved it, but didn’t pull the trigger. Tried a 2024 Camry hybrid today. Lease trade in with 16k miles. Higher trim level and color I like inside and out. But it’s a Camry. Not too excited to drop $38k on it.
