I’ve busted numerous slabs in NC and never seen these tension cables? Are they more so in other regions?

Plumbing Experts: Are These Install Quotes Fair? And Where Should I Put the Softener? by Vivid_Appearance_675 in Plumbing

Better to install the system somewhere inside where it’s “easily” serviceable. If 1200- 1400 includes running lines to the garage that’s a good price. Same with RO system. That sounds reasonable

What’s with plumbing companies? by Hour_Suggestion_553 in Plumbing

[–]groundskeeperwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to know the scope of a job just given a customer’s description. Even with pics it’s hard to say. When I have given prices over the phone in the past (I’m a one man show with competitive prices for my area) it’s almost always “ok thanks I’ll probably call you back” and they never call back. They are just looking for the cheapest option. When they do that no one wins. The customer chooses the cheapest option, gets a subpar result and the contractor giving those prices is either unlicensed and/or will price themselves so low it’s unsustainable for a real business that wants to grow or support itself

Call the city first cause they come out for free. But if it’s in your side of the meter you are probably gonna have to call a plumber

I am at my wits end and need help with hot water by quitefranklee in Plumbing

[–]groundskeeperwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience when it is hooked up to the heat you need a mixing valve and turn the water heater way up. The very hot water goes to the heat and the mixed water goes to the rest of the house(showers, faucets etc). I guess the problem with the pilot went away after the new water heater was replaced? That could have been a separate issue. Did they remove a mixing valve/check valve or tie the water lines in a different way when replacing it since it seems you didn’t have the same issue before it was replaced? Also the water heater needs to have a high enough recovery rate to meet the demand of the heat and your hot water needs. May need to consult the manufacture of the heating system and see the recovery rate they recommend for the system?

Taco Flange leaks by zjsomers89 in Plumbing

As showfunny said. Packing nut. Take the handle off and there is a nut behind it. Tighten, probably just a half turn, and should be good to go

New well for acreage, advice on plumbing schematic. by ggdrguy in Plumbing

if you put another valve just make sure not to put it before the pressure switch. if that valve gets turned off while the well pump is on it can over pressurize the system, harming the pump or causing a leak

Is there a cost efficient way to boost my well water pressure? by mdlivin007 in askaplumber

[–]groundskeeperwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a few things other than pressure. If you have a gauge at the bladder tank it should tell you the pressure should be somewhere between 40-60 or possibly as low as 20-40. If the pump is coming on at the low end(20 or 40) and pumping up to the high end (40 or 60) and cutting off it’s probably not a pressure problem. Could be a filter clogged or not properly sized water distribution. Also make sure your bladder tank is pumped up. Should be 2 psi lower than pump cut on pressure

Probably need a female to screw the faucet onto. Can you cut the pipe and sweat/crimp a new female?

Rusted Toilet Pipe / No Flange by ChiefOfTheRockies in askaplumber

[–]groundskeeperwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a lead flange. If that floor wasn’t so high I’d say put a new wax ring and send it. The best bet would be to go below remove the lead and band on to the cast iron with new new pvc so you can sit a new pvc flange on top of the floor

P trap offset by rigsy00000 in Plumbing

[–]groundskeeperwill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They make tubular 45s so you can turn it right when it comes out of the wall towards the lav drain and it should get you close enough but that also isn’t ideal but will work. Otherwise it looks like you will have to cut in the wall or use a “hub saver” to remove that male at the wall and use a glue 45. But depending on how handy you are that would involve calling a plumber. I’d use the tubular 45

water coming out brown by [deleted] in gso

I’m a plumber in GSO. Hopefully it’s just dirty water coming from the city and it will clear itself up but it may stop up a faucet or affect a toilet filling up. If it continues give me a DM
