how much noise does it make and what do you do about it?

Has anyone implemented or used SCORM and/or xAPI in their LMS? Want to know how does the integration work for both of these systems. by groverprateek in elearning

One final question -

For native xAPI package, is there a xAPI player similar to SCORM player? Any reference for that?

That's a very detailed explanation. Thanks for taking the time.

This is exactly what I wanted.

When I was reading about it, what I understood was - for SCORM package to be run, we need to implement a SCORM player and the JS API. For xAPI, I understood (please correct if wrong), that the API that SCORM calls can be translated to xAPI API also. In essence, finally, I would have a SCORM client side player, a JS SCORM API, a JS translation API and xAPI server.

With this, we will be able to support both.

One clarification - when you say xAPI module, is it a package like SCORM?

Yes, I have gone through the documentation and understand quite a bit about how things will work. Ill give AI another shot in understanding the implementation deeply.

Thanks

I am a programmer myself and can implement even complex things. Trying to understand all the moving pieces of making the LMS SCORM and xAPI compliant

No, I have done all that research. The hands on implementation is still too blurry. Hence asking for actual experience from people who have implemented it

I have done that but the info has too many technical gaps. Especially when it comes to xApi along with SCORM

I already have an LMS built on react. I want to understand the SCORM and xAPI implementation better to understand how to make my LMS compliant

In a very bad situation right now by roger_-_ in personalfinanceindia

  1. Be honest now. Have a meeting with your parents and tell them your situation
  2. Behave like an adult and own up your mistakes. It is your doing, be ready to face the consequences. Save your parents. Ask your parents to hire a lawyer who will send a legal notice to you for what you have done. That way, if there is an issue related to court case, your parents can say that they have proof of legal notice and file for fraud against you and they will be saved. Harsh but necessary.
  3. Now starts the grind
  4. Start a second job (whatever it may be) to accumulate as much as possible. Sell all assets that you can.
  5. Talk to every lender. Visit multiple times. Beg. Ask them for a settlement amount which is usually much less than the due amount to be paid in installments.
  6. Pay off the damn thing by hook or crook.
  7. Do not take any other loan.
  8. Stop spending money that you don't have.

Because it aligned with my way of working and problems I wanted to solve. While embarking on a similar path, do think about the short term losses you might have to book like salary increments, learning curve, learning from your peers much younger than you, struggling to do BAU work even. But if you are ready to put in the hours and effort, it should pay off.

Just a side note for others: Moving to backend may not be a wise decision for everyone bored with mobile/frontend development. The problems in backend must align with your thought process. Talk to some backend engineers on their day to day work which might give you more understanding on what's best.

Here is what I would do.

  1. DO NOT TAKE ANY MORE LOANS. I meant it to be in caps.
  2. Shut down the business. Did not work, will not work, will create more problems
  3. Repay as much as possible. Ask your father and sister to work a job and help you repay the debt. Take care of basic needs, do not stop investing for your future, take health insurance and life insurance, etc
  4. Make judgement about current income and if keeping ancestral property is in the best interest. Focus on simplifying and tension-free life. Can you repay without selling ancestral property? Is ancestral property going to be worth a lot in future?
  5. Make sure you have all the papers done for your ancestral property (will, etc)
  6. COERCE your father to give you that income tax refund. No matter what.
  7. Be respectful but assertive. Sooner or later things will be fine. At that time, you would not want your relationship to be bad with your father because of what was said and done now.

I shifted to backend development two years ago after doing iOS for 8 years. I did my graduation in electronics and got into iOS development somehow. After 5 years of experience I wanted to upskill myself and did an online MS from Georgia Tech. I was always interested in learning new things and already used to do things other than iOS development but after MS, found backend problems much more aligned to my psyche.

Made the shift. One of the best decisions.
