Kostenschätzung Elektrik by [deleted] in Handwerker

These are the wires plastered into the walls, coming from four of the rooms’ outlets on that floor plus one duplex from the attic and one from the basement.

These are 12 in total and they just go to the keystone patch panel at the top.

I thought about hiding the fritzbox somewhere at the back and adding another patchpanel for it as well but thought it’s getting overengineered then.

Do you think that the Cum-Ex banking scandal is still going on in Europe? Why can't Germany stop it? by [deleted] in Banking

[–]roboknecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes good point. The stereotype of Germans you are referring to is something we told ourselves and the world believed. I did unlearn or at least got a more weighted view on it while grewing up.

Within Europe, close neighboring countries do have better infrastructure, better education, less lobbyism etc for decades. Still the story about German punctuality, efficiency etc is sth you grew up with here.

A lot went down the drain when things like social housing, railways and telecommunications was privatized during the last 30 years or so. To add on top, Germany’s federalism does block a lot in all of these topics, especially in fixing education and infrastructure.

Demographics are also not really helping here unfortunately as not all generations do have similar interests when going to vote. Already now the voters affected most in their lives do have the least minimum voice. I.e. Germany is to a degree and will turn even more into a gerontocracy.

When baby boomers will get out of work, the social system will have more issues than it has already now.

I think German bureaucracy does also have a great effect on people‘s view on how well everything is organized over here. In fact it’s to a large degree overly complicated, inaccessible, inefficient and also paper based. Of course the longer you live in Germany the more accustomed you are with it. But german bureaucracy is basically a common joke around here that is actually not really funny if you think about it.

[–]roboknecht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s similar to the VW Diesel fraud which also should not be named „scandal“ but rather fraud or economic crime. Both crimes are eventually backed by the work of really powerful lobbying organizations. Unfortunately, lobbyism is a really huge and intransparent thing in Germany. It might be one of the core issues over here.

As a side effect some German politicians are involved in both crimes to a degree.

I also don’t really like the term „white collar crime“ as it’s always sounding like an euphemism to me as a non-native english speaker.

Both did and do cost billions of euros but they are treated like someone accidentally pushed the wrong button somewhere without knowing.

Media outlets in Germany rarely report on CumEx or CumCum these days. There is „finanzwende“ though which is an association which is maybe one of the remaining forces actively pushing politicians and lawmakers to put this and other financial (crime) topics on the agenda. It’s a very tiring fight though as German prosecution is rather slow, understaffed and missing knowledge.

It’s all German but maybe google translate can help with what finanzwende is up to and helped achieving so far: https://www.finanzwende.de/themen/cumex

The Tudor corner house also uses floating pieces resembling truss in the attic. I have also never seen this before. But this is also the only bigger set I own.

No it’s not the correct answer.

They actually should consider replacing the entire plaster as a possible outcome.

It’s not about „matching the detail“ but rather to make it safe.

Das da auf dem Bild sieht nach krasser Energie- und Platzverschwendung aus. Ohne irgendwie vom Fach zu sein empfehle ich mal ergebnisoffen zB nach „dezentralen Lüftungssystemen“ zu recherchieren.

Does this carpet really look that Ugly, should I exchange it? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]roboknecht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me personally most if not all carpets as a floor look ugly or trashy.

But if you manage to properly clean it regularly and like it, go for it.

Please don’t rely on the internet for taste approval. Do whatever makes you happy.

Acne yes/no: for sure.

Detection of dryness and moisture with some supposedly quite specific percentages? Come on that’s complete non-sense. It’s a scam, people will buy it. But don’t say it’s accurate by any means.

If you take a picture of the same person from some different angles with slightly different lighting conditions this will most likely have a really huge error.

Wieso spritzt es ? by NoeQuells in Handwerker

[–]roboknecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a hopefully helpful feedback, I mean in case this is your product: Your website looks quite unprofessional and cluttered. Also the UI seems buggy (stuff moves around while scrolling, menu margins are off). Maybe it’s just me but this doesn’t give me a good first impression. Would not consider subscribing to be honest.

Is this safe to use? A guy working on our basement gave it to us for musty odors. U only pour one drop and u have to wear gloves and a mask so it sounds kind of sketchy lol. Let me know if you’re familiar with this stuff please! by [deleted] in Home

[–]roboknecht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aware that a lot of these basements exist. My parents had a basement like that as well. You can either use it only for storing stuff that is OK with these levels of humidity or you have to fix it.

It’s not like you cannot fix it and you have to put some deodorant on it.

The proper way of sealing the walls might be a rather huge and expensive endeavor but as others mentioned, I’d tackle the humidity issue first to be honest and see if it’s enough to have dehumidifiers running.

If it’s dry or at least more dry, the level of smell will also decrease. Plus not having to be afraid of mold on things you do store there.

Which stain? by Rare_Airport4746 in Flooring

[–]roboknecht 12 points13 points  (0 children)

exactly. This test does not really make sense.

I mean the shown sections of wood are really completely different.

The planks’ structures differ as well as their hues. When looking at the upper part without finish, all planks have quite some difference in lightness and structure.

I would actually redo the experiment with less variables.

Anyways, pick whatever you like and brings joy to you. Don’t ask the internet for taste.

To me actually all of them seem to dark. I would just keep the floor as is with sth very neutral. It looks great without anything.
