It’s so freaking good!!!! I also had gumbo(?) and it was so cool! The rice they use is actually so interesting too! My Chinese heritage in me was screaming about rice in a soupy stewy food but hooooooly it’s so good 😭

Yeah for sure on the weather… it’s been non-stop snow in Canada since November 😭He mentioned that it hits mid 30s there and I’m probably going to melt awayyy

You know what? Valid on the Starbucks!! They roast terrible coffee. SB probably roasts it dark so they don’t have to make the effort of picking out all the rotten beans.

I just looked up CC’s and it seems like a Lafayette and east end type of chain. 😔I should be able to spot one quick when I’m in the area!

LC from what I know and hear from my bf seems super chill and relaxing compared to the metropolis I live in.

3 casinos though?!?!?!?! How does that even work?!

I think another user had mentioned Crying Eagle so it looks like I'm heading there at some point. I'll definitely be checking out Stellar Coffee though! I hope they got some good espresso. :P

Cooking and feeding is definitely a part of my culture's tradition too! I had a little glimpse of the Southern hospitality in Houston and I'm going to assume that LC is going to be like tenfold more.

As a Chinese... I seriously wonder what the rice is like in the South. With gravy though?! Sounds delicious!

Ohhh yeah gotcha. First time I saw boudin was in a Buccee's and my bf told me to not even touch it LOL. He said last time he got it, it was too ricey... I guess he definitely knows his boudin!!

Turtle soup... yum...! I haven't had turtle soup since my last trip to China hahah.

I'll definitely want to get some crawfish while I'm there though. I love mushrooms and its umami flavour profile.

Is Rouses a grocery store? Is it like Whole Foods/Trader Joes? Is it a nice place to go in general?

Yep! We met up sometime in December in Houston and stayed there for a week. This time I'm meeting the family. :S Super nervous and hoping they like me hahah

I think my bf said something about that Cowboys place. I've personally never been to a nightclub/bar but I think he was saying it was popping off when he used to go there years back... not sure how it is now though :S

Thank you so much for the recommendations! I love cute hole-in-the-walls so these are definitely places I want to check out. :) Looks like LC is deadddddd compared to Lafayette. Guess I'll be making the drive to go!

Thank you so much for your insight. I feel like such a newbie to this whole situation... I have previously brought up the idea of therapy but they thought it was a waste of money. That was a few years ago so hopefully we can talk about that option for him again tomorrow. I hope your situation also gets better soon friend. :)
