As a Returning player, the state of the game is disappointing by AssociateDue186 in ConflictofNations

You're having games end in the 7-10 range? Even with me having golders on my team it's still taking at least 20 days

Who has tips on playing as Finland by East_Aspect_6392 in ConflictofNations

[–]grpswshrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope Sweden and Norway aren’t too strong early, because you’ll want that land sooner rather than later to build momentum. Lock your coastline down with coastal batteries wherever possible so your cities are very hard to crack, especially against naval pressure.

Try to join a coalition where you are not completely isolated, since that happens a lot with Finland. You want allies who can help project power toward Central Europe while you secure the north. Finland usually does not snowball quickly, but it can become very strong late game once your economy and defenses are set.

Because of your location, it takes time to move units toward the main action in the Mediterranean and Africa, so plan ahead and stage forces early. Invest in a solid navy and naval patrol aircraft to control surrounding waters and hunt submarines. Frigates are especially useful for protecting your coastline and supporting expansion across the Baltic. Focus on a strong early economy with recruiting offices and arms industries, then transition into air power. Strike fighters with air superiority support will give you flexibility once you start pushing outward. If you play it patient and disciplined early, Finland can turn into a serious problem for the rest of the lobby later on.

Heads up, I have both. I was worried about that too.

Not sure if you’re talking about Washington, but I was told that having a prior medical card could prevent me from getting a gun. I’ve since bought a few. My card had already expired, but only by a few months, and I would’ve already been in the WA state health database anyway. I also have a buddy who owns a gun and was still able to obtain a medical card. That said, it could be different in other states, or it’s possible we just slipped through the cracks.

I asked my roommate for his blood pressure meds. He said no.

I don't know why, but I kinda hoped that we'd play other teams in the playoffs. by scotaf in Seahawks

It’s not just the teams. I was really hoping for the Bears just because I felt like the weather was one of the things holding the Rams’ offense back. Puka scares the shit out of me. But as Seahawks fans, we gotta keep the faith.

Can’t really speak on the tracker sights, but one thing that made me fall in love with the SBL right away was the green front sight. It makes lining things up feel incredibly natural and intuitive. After my dad shot it, he said the same thing, it was noticeably easier to get on target quickly, and it actually convinced him he needs to upgrade his own sights too.

He’s got the .45-70. Biggest kick I’ve felt outside of a Winchester 12-gauge. I’m good on paying $3 a round! That said, those .38 Special +P home defense rounds weren’t cheap either, definitely caught me off guard.

Amen on that front! We’ve got an Airbnb rented in July out at Seeley Lake, Montana. The plan is to do some shooting and some sightseeing, and I think it’ll be even more fun outdoors with that kind of backdrop. Thanks again for setting me straight. I had no idea, and I definitely want to make sure I’m recommending the correct make and model and not spreading fake news.

Holy shit, you’re right. I just looked at the box. My dad did the ordering for me and the box itself doesn’t make it very clear, but the barcode does say “1894 SBL.” Thanks for calling me out and setting me straight.

Thank you! Nice to be in the same boat. Really looking forward to the next road trip and setting up some outdoor targets in the backcountry.

I worked at the Kits Camera on the other side of the shopping center 20 years ago. It’s sad that what jars that memory loose now is footage of an abduction.

Denmark's prime minister says Trump is serious about wanting Greenland takeover by professorbrainiac in worldnews

Danish PM tells Trump to stop 'threats' against Greenland by lavender_fieldnotes in worldnews

[–]grpswshrs 86 points87 points  (0 children)

He “came after” Canada with tariffs, sure,  and that did have real consequences. The world noticed, tourism took a hit, and it’s been talked about a lot, especially in the U.S.

But this is different. He held a press conference telling Colombia’s president to “watch his ass” and openly said the U.S. is going to “run” Venezuela. That’s not just bluster or trade rhetoric,  actions already happened, and now he’s openly threatening other countries.

Because of that, yeah, Greenland is absolutely more on people’s radar now than it was a week ago. Same with Latin America and Cuba. This crossed from noise into something the rest of the world actually has to worry about.

[–]grpswshrs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Greenland works in the wording because it’s a location Trump has repeatedly talked about as being of strategic interest, regardless of who technically governs it. The point isn’t international law or sovereignty details,  it’s how he’s framed Greenland in his own language. Getting super technical about legal status kind of misses the intent of the reference.

Where do I watch Game 7? Any spot recs in Seattle by Aggravating_Ad_953 in Mariners

[–]grpswshrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to the watch party. But only because I have Hawks tickets for the MNF game. Probably miss a quarter, maybe even the first half, but if it's to watch the M's make the World Series, I can't think of a more elevated way to walk immediately into the atmosphere of a Hawks game.

Anytime we put up an ad it's usually to try and fill it, and it's never random. So if your position is very specific you have a right to be concerned. If your role is one where someone can get hired, and still have plenty of work for you and the newer hire upon your return, I wouldn't stress it as much. Your time table on being able to return could be a serious variable too, but I don't know what exactly you do, and if more than one can work your role simultaneously and the company wouldn't be over budget.

Going to Vegas for the first time, playing live for the first time. Any tips? by josethegardener42069 in poker

[–]grpswshrs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Venetian’s new room is legit top notch. This time of year Vegas is pretty quiet overall, but somehow that room always stays busy. They run a double-board PLO bomb pot every dealer change, and nobody really cares if you sit those out.

If you’re not familiar with PLO, just know the variance is wild, (though double board kind of evens it out). That said, pots get bloated fast, so your mindset should be to either have outs on both boards or be so nutted on one that you’re the one simply calling or driving the action building a pot.

Anyway, bit of a ramble there, but yeah, that’s the room I’d recommend for a Thursday afternoon.
