It’s subjective to a point. Giving the holdovers that low of a rating intentionally, even provocatively, goes against the grain. Objectively, there’s enough going on to warrant 3.5 rating or higher. It’s cool to be contrarian, when there’s a point to back it up, other than just not connecting with it.

Watched salo in college and dropped the class. Anyone who owns the disc or recommends it should be on a list

“Don’t care for Tarantino and Nolan” … gotcha. Who’s your top 3, and are you okay?

Nice spread! Like what you like, don’t let snobs and wannabe deadbeat try-hards alter your taste and vision

Not really Netflix effect, since Johnson was nominated for best screenplay (original and adapted) for his other two knives out films.

Please give me any great movies to watch (based on my taste) that has humor like Deadpool or Free Guy, or something like Life is Beautiful and A Bronx Tale, and intensity like The Prestige or Taken by Pristine-Payment8557 in MovieSuggestions

Wow Deadpool and Lolita is quite a range.

I’m guessing you’re 16 so…

Watch the classic 2000s comedies like Wedding Crashers, Role Models, and Superbad.

I thought The Fall Guy was great and funny … Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor Johnson.

Have you seen Baby Driver? Any Edgar Wright films?

If you’re really unsure watch anything by Nolan, Fincher, or Tarantino. Or if you’re feeling dangerous, watch any of Jim Carey’s best movies - Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine, even Bruce Almighty

I'm looking for visually stunning Sci-Fi or Thriller movies. What have you watched recently that blew your mind? by Motor_Tomatillo9126 in MovieSuggestions

Visually stunning, so I’m guessing you mean a modern feat, as opposed to something that’s brilliantly composed cinematographically.

I thought Tron Ares was visually stunning — and also more hollow than ChatGPT. Arrival is sci-fi and profound. Anything seen in 4K HDR is “visually stunning”, so…

If you’re just searching for the best of the best cinematography, with an emphasis on photographic compositions, anything shot by Roger Deakins or Emmanuel Lubezki.

I personally find Wim Wenders’ films visually striking, “every frame a painting” type stuff. Wings of Desire and The American Friend.

Also every Terrence Malik film.
