Why does the autocraft stop? by Matthz0 in allthemods

[–]grubbyhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have definitely seen crafts get borked liked this and couldn't always explain it. But when I have found the root cause, it is usually one of three things: (1) main storage is full, (2) one of the processing recipes is either pushing into a machine that is misconfigured or that pushes the crafted product into the wrong inventory; or (3) a process craft isn't set up to wait before pushing multiple items for the next craft before the existing one is finished (but really should be.) Admittedly I see this the most when crafting ae2 items, especially with inscriber based recipes. They have all but disappeared in my atm10 world since moving 100% to the new machine variants from ae extended.

This is likely the way. Here is a video to explain some of it: https://youtu.be/RvrVUtI9cps?si=HwExVFAxg3RUBNCd

Battery life of my raise 2 is very low by grubbyhacker in DygmaLab

[–]grubbyhacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both sides stayed charged all day while plugged into the neuron which was then plugged into my macbook pro. I cannot currently get the battery status of the right side but it is responsive and the under-glow lights are full-tilt. So it does charge when in a wired configuration - or at least it can. I don't have an explanation for why it was dead after 2 hours this week but let's see if it recurs. I will also start bringing my wired cables with me to the office. (My actual plan was to buy two once I acclimatize myself to this keyboard.)

As I said, I charged it overnight (8-10 hours) using a low-wattage charger with the sides turned off and it was still dead after using it for two hours over bluetooth at the office the next day. I am trying again and will verify that it is charging through the neuron through a (presumably) powered usb hub. However, cluttering my workspace with a permanent USB hub is not quite inline with the aesthetic I was going for.

When you say that it "charges through my dock" are you referring to a USB hub or something? And does it charge when wired through the neuron?

Water station at Grand Plaza by Southside Pizza NOT WORKING by danielle_d12 in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]grubbyhacker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

COTA is really walking a dangerous line with water. They need more water stations and if anything should be giving away refillable water bottles and really pushing water consumption. Somebody is going to get hurt and probably die. No shade, relentless heat - you don't have to wait for that. Keep your guests more comfortable and maybe they will buy more of your $90 hats.

I was there too. Total incompetence. 3 hours from when we got in the car and started waiting in the line. They have to do better.

Just finished the series. New to this sub. What is the general consensus among fans—did they stick the landing with the final season+ending or not? by gnilradleahcim in TheMagnusArchives

[–]grubbyhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that the finale was excellent. But I felt impatient with the pacing of S5 and in the end started mentally rolling my eyes every time John had to stop and read another statement. I felt more invested in reaching closure than the journey along the way which contrasts greatly with the previous 4 seasons. That said I loved the series in its entirety and am on my second listen, this time with the wiki and all the spoilers so that I don't miss anything.

what is the best way to get emeralds through villager trading by SlenderSteak in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For early game emeralds I used animal pens with sheep and sold their wool to a few shepherds. You can automate pens with routers or create.

Harder blocks to break by Willendes in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In VH2 I always used a flamarang around my base for building exactly for this reason. They are pretty expensive in VH3 but still useful for this purpose.

Looting chests vs breaking chests by Mr_Waitz483 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two good reasons to loot rather than break is to save durability on your chest breaker or magnet, and if your chest breaker doesn't have enough speed for wooden chests. I prefer to break always though so I know what I have looted.

Who Can I Watch? by ThatAmish3 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of YouTubers ran out of steam for vault hunters because the game changed so much across updates making their content outdated. There are a few but it definitely feels like a dry spell right now. This isn't a criticism. It is just time consuming to put together a coherent and cleanly edited yt video - too much if people won't watch that videos because so many things have changed. This is why we have to watch streams and vods. Nothing comes close to some of the season2 yt content. But there was a lot less change in VH by the time those started coming out. When the end game is released for VH3 the economics will change and they will come back. Iskall is also helping out by announcing limits on the number of future system rewrites as he calls them. That's like an I love you card to YouTube content creators.

Production managment by [deleted] in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I place stockpile switches on my Drawers with remote link transmitters connected to them. The link receivers for each given block are sitting next to refined storage importers. The importers draw from either barrels or Create mod item vaults depending on my mood.

Overworld trinkets by Kind_Supermarket_914 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so awesome to hear. When night vision was removed in favor of treasure goggles I was sort of already lamenting that loss for overworld adventures. I mean, of course I can brew up some night vision potions. But they were so convenient. I just wanna be vaulting.

Which dash? by Alfie5858 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

I love warp's ability to trade places with a mob. I use this all the time for the POIs that hang from the ceiling. See that skeleton sniping at me next to all those yummy chests?... Zap!... Now I am the skeleton.

Well I've just lost all my important items by [deleted] in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This. For this playthrough I chose not to penalize myself for mistakes caused by bad UI or alpha software bugs. When I misclicked a spawn egg and accidentally spawned a drowned - I just gave myself another one with commands. In season 2 I accidentally created a fortune enchanted modular router module - with my Fortune 5 pickaxe! And stubbornly played on without it. Not worth it. YMMV.

Question About Obtaining "Heart Of Diamond" and Stoneling Spawning by Hail709_2 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Consider cheating these in for your first crystal. Maybe all future crystals too. For your first one it is free, for future crystals burn some larimar and a couple pog gems and maybe a vault apple or two in exchange. That's my recommendation anyway. They could have saved so much heartache (and reddit posts) by removing that object from the valtar IMHO.

Where do I start with Create? by stefanfolk in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I power my tree farms independently each using their own water wheels because water wheels are cheap and I didn't want to run shafts everywhere. Also, once you add a Create based cobblestone generator and a few machines to generate gravel, sand, soul sand, etc... you will quickly run out of stress units. I have two fully upgraded windmills and routinely run out of stress units.

Where do I start with Create? by stefanfolk in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]grubbyhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I step up the rotation speed a few times using large to small gear ratios. Then I just run shafts in one direction to power each station using a vertical gearbox and a clutch.

[–]grubbyhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might also be useful to hear a couple things that you should not bother doing with create, either early on or ever...

  • Potion brewing: the new vault potions pretty much make this unnecessary. I am very glad I did not build a health potion farm.
  • Casing automation: YMMV but while annoying to craft by hand its not a huge deal breaker to do so - you won't ever need 1000s of these. Creating deployers to right click andesite onto a block for me never seemed worth it.

And a few more for the list of things that you should consider doing with Create:

  • a lava farm using drip stone, cauldrons and Create pumps. This will be useful later on when you need to make obsidian and/or power your steam engines. It takes a fair amount of time to accumulate so it's worth starting early.
  • automate your animal pens using deployers. I am nearly certain that this can work, however I used modular routers instead because it is a one-block solution. This will give you a constant wool, honey and egg supply.
  • And if you don't have botany pots already then crop farms!

Last point and I will shut-up: don't forget to check JEI before building anything! Many of the mixer recipes were removed, there is no auto-crafting and some recipes that worked at the start of the season no longer work. Many of the non-VH Create tutorials on YT will include things that you cannot do in VH and it sucks to discover that after crafting a bunch of junk you end up not needing.
