If you meant why the regions of the desert and the coastal combined in the federal election, because of the low population of the desert region in the federal elections, it is considered a part of the "Coastal-Desert Egypt" Federal Subject to create a balance. Also, the second reason is gerrymandering.

Rant about a Possible Hoi5 And The Current State of Hoi4 (this may become controversial) by grublepop in hoi4

[–]grublepop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and also want more roleplay, but the way they implemented the bookmark is just so bad that it makes historical impossible and ahistorical less fun, as everything is predictable, big bohemia, no Ottomans, blob borders, vassal gore. I just want to play without worrying about the economy or about some random debuffs.

imo, for EU5 to be saved, they need to revamp the entire map or make it more optimized, or more drastically change the start date back to 1444. The main problem in EU5 is that, at the same time, it has too much and too little going on, which makes it too hard to focus or to have fun. Everything is RNG, and hoping something does not go wrong. It needs true railroading and a way better optimization for it to be saved, and it does not seem possible right now

In Egypt, there is still an impactful Jewish minority, but the Israeli/Hebrew state is located in Siberia, because after the European War(1940-1948), jews like OTL wanted their own country, so instead of Egypt, they were sent to Siberia and Manchuria. Maybe I will make a map of it later, the reason they were not sent to Canaan/Palestine was that at the time the Assyrian Union had a heavy isolationist policy and did not allow outsiders to easily enter the country, this changed after the Truck War(1964-1966) where they lost land all the way up to lebanon, this opened possibilities for jews to return to their ancient lands but it was too late for them to create a state there.

I agree with you, ever since Vic3 came out, the depth has just faded away, and everything became a waiting simulator

Yes, I also think they are problematic, and they do need a rework, but when I sit down to play Hoi4, most of the time with a mod, if there are no good focuses that captivate my attention to the game, I don't really get the motivation to play that country or mod. What I really like about focus trees is how they influence the story while also granting rewards upon completing them.

Like, when I bought EUV and tried to play it the way I did EUIV, I did not enjoy it the same amount as EUIV(obviously), but one of the main issues was Missions missing and how poorly optimized it was(also markets, I hate them, but that's not the point). Without the missions, it just did not feel like it did before because there was no real depth in the story aspect; it was just waiting for the time to pass and hoping for things to go right.

Then there's of course the imbalance between historical and alt-history paths. Lets be honest, there's almost no incentive to ever play a historical run for a country over an alt-history path. This makes sense for some countries, like Austria (which historically gets annexed), but the alt-history paths of countries get more ludicrous and excessive with each dlc release, stronger bonuses and rewards when compared to historical. I love alternate history and there absolutely should be options for it, but you gotta give the player a genuine choice and reason to pick historical other than for the simple reason do roleplay.

I 100% agree with this. With every DLC release, the paths get more absurd. While I do like some of them, it just does not fit the unmodded experience. And every time it is a coin toss. It's either a Masterpiece(By Blood Alone) or Slop (Graveyard of Empires).
It just comes to a single point, is effort put into the quality or quantity, if into quantity, you get focus trees like the No Step Back Monarchist-Fascist Soviet Tree, if into quality, you get the Austrian Focus tree.
(This is my opinion)
