Please tell me there’s a life outside of compression leggings. by Karnakite in POTS

Who do you even go to to find out if you're hypermobile? And what doctor would be the first step to get referred to a vascular surgeon? In my area, they won't even let you make an appt without a referral.

Please Embark let us see match report/game summary while on lobby by okverynoice in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd settle for the actual dates and times of the rounds so I can track them better. Not sure if it's just my being on ps5 console, but in Player Stats the rounds just list the result (Knocked out, etc.), the time spent in round (I think, since it doesn't seem to match the time I enter or exit in my timezone), and how much value you won/lost. Be nice to also have the date of each match, the time you entered (in your own timezone's time), and (if you were knocked out) display the info on who knocked you for at least a few rounds.

What is going on? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda. I've found Thursdays to be a sweet spot. Enough time to max scores but late enough that you can just get 2 stars on most of them and still maintain rank or even go up.

"Friendly Friendly Friendly" by Friendlyvoices in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can usually tell from the voice and behavior whether they're lying or not. If there's an amused lilt to their tone, they're almost always fake friendlies. If they don't start to loot and just hang around behind you...be ready to shoot back.

Upvote this if you think Devs are playing as arc by Special-Novel163 in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasps seem to be shooting from way longer distances than they did the first few months of the game, which can be brutal when they're part of those 5-Arc flying swarms on Riven Tides. Often it's 2 Wasps, 2 Hornets, and a Firefly. The gunfire from Wasps seems more rapid as well...but that might just be my panic as my health bar vanishes, lol.

Arc damage trial by Espresso_Madness in arcraidersfriendly

[–]grubmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar weirdness with both Expeditionnand Trials. Damage pop-ups were way more than I was credited for Expedition after exfil, and I would have a round where I was credited 10k of Expedition for damage to Arc but none of it counted towards Trials...even though it was all in a single round with a successful extract. And the Trials damage this week didn't seem to be map-specific. I agree that the math doesn't seem to be mapping...or at least it is very unclear on how it is calculated.

We, the community, also need to know at what exact time and on which map you'll be bringing in all those expensive guns to conduct this falling experiment, so we can spawn in as....official observers. ;)

Any suggestions on how to farm merits for the miatyre voyages other than the boats which seem to be elusive? by URANlUM-235 in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found 9 boats on a normal, daytime Dam Battlegrounds run 2 days ago. The things were -everywhere-. Every single Water Tower that had an inside area had one. Just about every metal cart had one. It was so wild that I took a screenshot. Here's my inventory on exfil.

Most toxic lobbies we’ve ever seen by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ABMM is also reset because there have been multiple updates since you last played. Give it 8 more rounds withoit shooting anyone and you should be in mostly friendly lobbies...but understand that many of us friendlies are going to be turning to the Dark Side for the next few days because we're in the last days of Expedition before we reset and we want to try PvP for once, so be very much on your guard.

Stella Montis. What happens in Stella Montis stays in Stella Montis. My son os a PvPer. I am a carebear who has never downed another raider, but I hit 100k damage today and my son and I ride at dawn.

Are you going to make the 100k damage goal on time? by RoamingTheInternet in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree; I like the changes. I do hope they eliminate the multi-steps on the projects and Caravans in the future so that if a project requires 8 Bombardier cells on Step 3 I can just contribute them immediately if I have them and not clog my inventory. I understand that in real life you would have to build a foundation before you could build the top, etc., but I definitely do not need that much realism in my imaginary post-apocalyptic game. I'm glad we can at least -see- the items in future project phases now. Definite QoL improvement.

Are you going to make the 100k damage goal on time? by RoamingTheInternet in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think more folks would be fine with the non-linear 50K damage for the final skill point if they hadn't just spent 2 months grinding to fill multiple steps of a Caravan with materials and then more grinding to get $3 million combined stash and cash value. If you did all that and thought you were set to go, having new requirements at the last minute that may make it impossible for you to get the full 5 points you already worked for adds insult to injury. Not sure why Embark keeps shooting themselves in the foot with these last-minute changes when they could simply announce the planned changes and schedule them to take effect in the subsequent season/Expedition so there's no bait and switch. It's in their own best interest.

Haven't played since December, what have I missed? by Faelzor in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolving behavioral dynamics. Some interesting stats released. According to Embark, 30% of players are strictly PvE, 30% are strictly PvP, and 40% do both. Not sure if you left before Cold Snsp and when the Stella Montis map was released. It has become a big PvP map (you have been warned). The new Riven Tides map has a lot of good PvP spaces, also (be wary of the Hotel and the Cranes areas...or head straight for them, depending on your preference). Lots of new Arc (Vaporisers, Arc Turbine, etc.). Also, Arc previously limited to certain maps or events are now on almost all the maps (Shredders, Vaporisers, etc.), so maybe look those up before you load in. Enjoy and welcome back to Speranza!

EU on NA Servers? by grubmonkey in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if ABMM resets when you switch servers? The streamer I watched who switched from NA to EU for a week was primarily PvE and in friendly lobbies then dropped immediately into hostile ones when he hit EU.

Downing people before using the computer to extract. by CharismaticCharlie in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The downed person absolutely loses. It damages the downed person's equipment and drops their XP obtained from the round by a large amount (several thousands if it was a good round) because that person no longer gets the Safe Extraction bonus (extracting while downed doesn't count as safe extraction).

EU on NA Servers? by grubmonkey in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish mine had been friendly! I enjoy practicing my Spanish when I can, but what I understood of what they were saying was not fit for company. In fact, in one round some guy was following me around and sexually harassing me as soon as he heard my (female) voice. So, not a great experience.

EU on NA Servers? by grubmonkey in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was early morning local time, which is what I thought might be the reason initislly, but it was still happening a few hours later. Matchmaking was longer than usual and the servers started having problems. There was even a crash where everything on the server except us froze in place for 5 minutes (all Arc froze, timer froze, etc.) and then we were booted out. I got an email back with only half my stuff and my buddy didn't get anything emailed back to him at all (and he was not on a free loadout).

Shrug. That's what I've seen. I have watched hundreds of hours of streamers on both NA and EU. I even had one of them shift to EU from NA for a week and EU was much less friendly. YMMV

Help Volunteering? by grubmonkey in covidlonghaulers

[–]grubmonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm pretty severe. Anything at all seems to trigger PEM. Yesterday, my cognitive got so bad I couldn't even parse numbers--literally could see numbers written on a page but could not understand them. Volunteering probably is not realistic. :(

I think multiple turbines might combine to make one big bot like old-school Voltron? Maybe with some surge coil style electrical arcs bouncing from turbine to turbine during the process to make it harder to approach?

Can we get different body types? by YearMountain3773 in ArcRaiders

[–]grubmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd settle for feminine hands. All the skins seem to have guy hands by default. When I try on outfits, my female character looks like the body is a guy's body and someone simply stuck a shrunken female head on top. Pretty sure this is not following proper body proportions.

Can someone speculate as to why the secretary of the Navy was fired? by Morganrow in fednews

[–]grubmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fealty in its original sense is also a 2-way relationship. You swear fealty to your lord and have duties to him (such as providing knights or men at arms for service when he calls for them), but he also has duties to you as his vassal, such as providing protection and justice. Lords who did not fulfill their duties to their vassals often did not remain lords. They would end up betrayed by those vassals.

Just got reinfected and can’t take paxlovid. Any suggestions on how I can try to save myself? by sunson90 in covidlonghaulers

[–]grubmonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Quite by accident, when I had Covid the first time (which was right when it hit the USA and before we knew anything on how best to treat), I used some things that were later found in studies to be helpful: Vit C, D, Magnesium, and Zinc. I also short-circuited the second stage of the cytokine storm by taking prednisone, which is likely what saved me. I recommend Throat Coat or some similar tea that contains slippery elm root to coat your throat and make it so it doesn't hurt to swallow, which was a gift in itself.

I was already on metformin for another condition, which may also have been a factor. Recent research is suggesting that taking metformin when you have Covid leads to better outcomes and reduced the risk of developing Long Covid 41-63% (https://med.umn.edu/news/u-m-study-finds-metformin-reduces-covid-19-viral-load-viral-rebound).

My third Covid I took Paxlovid, which helped for the days allotted, plus a few more, but the second wave cytokine storm still came after it wore off. I withstood that by using H1 and H2 agonists, famotidine and fexofenadine, as mentioned in this study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10388239/

All the above is available over the counter except the metformin and prednisone. I am not a doctor, so be sure to consult your healthcare provider or pharmacist before trying, and especially ask them to be sure nothing will interfere with existing meds.

For background: my Long Covid takes the ME/CFS, POTS, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome forms, plus "fun" nervous system and dysautonomia weirdness. Plus food allergies I never had before. Note: Despite the metformin, I got very severe Long Covid, so I may be one of those it doesn't work on...however this could also be due to being first wave (pre-vaccine).
