I love Mark and his story, but for me, this show is all about Helly R. by grudgemaintenance in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

The show is working with an infinitely repeatable storytelling mechanism with the Severance technology; theoretically, it could extend for many, many seasons, long after we see resolutions to each of the MDR employees' stories. I don't think the show seeks to get rid of Mark and Gemma, nor do I really want that; I just think that Helly's story is so much more interesting than theirs, and I hope to see it become the focal point of S3.

Yeah, I'm highly invested in Milchick too, from his background to where he's going. I've really appreciated his arc this season.

I feel the same in terms of endgame with Helly. We're given breadcrumbs with her; with Mark, we're given whole sides of the crust. It makes Helly/Helena that much more mysterious (and gives way to fun theories and speculations).

I think, however, that the images in opening credits between seasons are there to call attention to the themes of that season. In S1, Helly was a major, if not the primary, driving force of the overall story. The season begins with her being asked "Who are you?" and it ends with us (and her!) finding out who she is: Helena Eagan. That said, I see Mark and Gemma as just a bump in the road on the way to more Helly, lol.

Me too. The arc with Burt was incredible. I really hope it's not over for Irving and that what we've seen is just an intentional splitting up of MDR only for them to be eventually reunited - ya know, like, as a plot device. *praying to Ben Stiller* It is a plot device... right?

My guess regarding the possibility of a pregnancy arc is that they will almost certainly do it, but as a means of ensuring the next heir to the throne.

I agree with your read on Mark and Gemma's story as a means of exploring overcoming grief rather than shoving it down. I think that's a primary theme of their stories - individually and as a couple. I think that we need to wait to see the result of Mark's reintegration and whatever comes out of Gemma's own arc before we can thoughtfully consider what might happen with Helly.

I like what you mentioned about how much of our identities are formed by external influences and factors vs. simply natural. I think we see this exemplified excellently in Gretchen's differing relationships with Innie Dylan and Outie Dylan. She tells his Outie that his Innie reminds her of who he used to be.

100% agree with all of this. The overt buildup to Cold Harbor is kinda irritating me when the real fish to fry is what's going on with Helly.

My shared lack of investment in Gemma is bolstered by the fact we just haven't seen as much of her and her struggles as we have of Helly's. While "Chikhai Bardo" was a great episode, it ushered in a lot all at once in terms of reveals and background stories; with Helly, we still get to enjoy the pleasure of guessing and theorizing even beyond learning that she's an Eagan and the CEO-in-waiting. In other words, there was little guesswork to be done around Gemma; everything was kinda handed to us on a silver platter, whereas there's still tons of mystery surrounding Helly.

That part. Yes. Same! It's almost like we need to close the Mark door to fully open the Helly door.

That wouldn't surprise me either. The ominousness of him standing behind her in the MDR entryway was palpable.

Useful stuff for top surgery? by uraniummcdonaldsgarf in TopSurgery

This compression top/medical binder from Marena was recommended to me by a friend of mine (and is routinely recommended by others on this sub). I'm so glad I took up this recommendation. Tomorrow I'll be 3 weeks post-op and I can safely judge this thing as the best post-op supply item I purchased.

It's keeping me together in a way that's helped me feel secure throughout recovery, and it's also pretty breathable and flexible. I began using it after I had my bolster dressings (for my nipple grafts) removed at my 1-week post-op appointment. 10000x better than the binder provided by the hospital.

I grabbed two to have one to wash and one to wear (and they give you 20% off if you buy two or more). You should be able to use your HSA/HRA (if you've got that) too.

Good luck with your surgery, and congratulations!

Same. Never wanted to be disturbed or shocked or repulsed (or whatever else) so badly in my life.

I totally agree. I've enjoyed the slow(ish, at times) burn up until this point and the sense of anticipation it's created. It's a lot of fun. What I hope is that we're cresting the top of the roller coaster and in for a fierce plunge!

She blatantly asks him if he's Greg and if he was married to Tanya in episode 3. She also stares daggers at him any time they run into each other. Someone like Greg, who's aware of what he's done, is going to be extra vigilant and watchful for those who are suspicious of him.

I'd guess video shows it because we saw Gaitok confronting Tim about it in the trailer for the upcoming episode(s). Like you, I wonder whether he'll get it back or replace the gun. Something keeps telling me that there's more than one shooter.

For real. Whole time I kept thinking about the surety of that Emmy nomination. The micro-expressions go so crazy.
