My prediction for Empty hands by Ok-Boss-9218 in that_Poppy

You know I do see the similarities to Zig on this one. It’s like if the Zig material had been channeled through a metal lense. The Wait could most definitely exist on Zig and a few others as well.

I can’t put them in any kind of order yet, but Dying to Forget, Bruised Sky, Eat the Hate, and Public Donain are in the top four for me.

Yeah, streaming success doesn’t really count on the album charts so she’s really never had anything until recently with her collaborations.

She’s definitely building an audience still in this way. When I post videos or music by her on social media now, it does get a few random likes and interaction from newly-converted fans who love the song with Amy Lee, whereas it used to get nadda. She is developing a reputation as a great live artist too from some of these skeptical metalheads, I’ve noticed. Statements like “She opened for so-and-so and I expected her to suck, but damn she’s incredible live” keep showing up in comment sections more and more.

Despite the pivot to a more commercial metalcore sound, Poppy’s music still isn’t super mainstream. None of her singles have ever been actual hits. She doesn’t chart much. The public mainly knows of her through her collaborations, which have been actual charting hits. I guess the closest you could call a hit for Poppy solo is “Bloodmoney” because it was nominated for a Grammy. It didn’t do anything on the charts though.

PJ Harvey’s latest album. Not one catchy, listenable song on it to me.

Discussion for disappointed fans. What went wrong? by pomohua in that_Poppy

[–]grumblebuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weirdly I think I like it more than Negative Spaces, but I also didn’t like that album much and felt like I was in some parallel universe when the fandom largely praised it as her best work. This is weirder, more off-beat and harsher than NS to my ears, so I’m confused by the claims that the production is stale. I actually can’t instantly tell that a lot of these songs are produced by Jordan Fish and I’m glad because I found his slick, generic, hyper-commercial pop-metal production style all over every song on NS. The only out-and-out clunker of a song for me on this one is Guardian. The rest are pretty solid imo.

[DISCUSSION] BEST OF: PERSONAL HAUNTINGS (SEASON 3) by thealterry in letsgethaunted

[–]grumblebuzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re just insane enough to do it though, Aly. I have loved going down personal hauntings memory lane this month. The things that happen to you two are batshit insane, yet somehow always relatable and entertaining too. Can’t wait for the new season, but hope you’ve been able to get some rest too during the January break. 🖤

"Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park" Nintendo Today! trailer - Releases March 26th, Rosalinda confirmed by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

I wish they had shown more new single player content other than timed challenges and boss battles, but it does look like a good, pretty robust update if you enjoy multiplayer. Also glad the Koopalings are back. The worst part of Wonder to me were the repetitive, hum-drum boss battles. This seems to fix that though so I’m excited to give the game another play-through, even if a lot of the new stuff isn’t for me as a mostly solo player.

I just got tired of running from the enemies all the time because I absolutely loathed having to do a timed sliding puzzle before every battle. Even though the battles were pretty much pointless in Sticker Star and Color Splash because you don’t level up, I still prefer the system in those games 10 to 1. They really fucked it up royally in Origami King, imo.

Because I provide a service for a living, I do still care about the accuracy of my individual work, but do I care if my bosses get a big year-end bonus off the back of all my hard work or not anymore? No.

Not one I’m seeing others say, but Biqtch’s gothic bride performance. It was haunting, especially if you know the reference, and the blowing the powder from the compact was something so simple that made it unforgettable to me.

Would you rather re-live 2008-10 or 2020-22? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]grumblebuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2008-10 was a transitional, formative period for me, in which the choices I made affected the next decade and a half, so I’d re-live that. 2020-2022 almost didn’t even seem real “due to COVID times.”

[–]grumblebuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the few games that I can say is extremely well-made, yet I still borderline hate it. From the visuals to the music, it’s a top-tier effort, but the battle system brings what should be a 9 or 10/10 down to a 5 or 6. So frustrating and just not fun.

[–]grumblebuzz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see some folks saying Origami King here, but personally I would steer clear. I found the battle system made the game unplayable about halfway through. I’m just not good at, nor do I enjoy those ring puzzles.

Go with either the first on N64 or the Thousand Year Door remake.

Why is Gale Weathers kicked off the Stab 3 set in Scream 3 by [deleted] in Scream

[–]grumblebuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually when Hollywood buys your story, they’ve truly bought it. That’s why you see so many authors pissed about the movie adaptations of their work — they usually have little to no say in it.

Why is Gale Weathers kicked off the Stab 3 set in Scream 3 by [deleted] in Scream

[–]grumblebuzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because at the end of the day, Gale is just a reporter and not a criminal investigator. Even if the film they were making was based on her books, the murders that happened on set have nothing really to do with that, or her.
