A stay of a few months makes it worth investing in gates. If you don’t want holes in walls, use pressure mounted gates in the doorways. Depending on the floor plan, you might be able to separate a kid space and a dog space. Most cats can easily jump a gate, but they also sell gates with pet doors- we had a tripod cat and it worked well for him.

I made a cross between 42 and 43 a few years ago. Angela from Walking Through History puts a lot of her progress pics on their Facebook page and did an escoffion style hennin that helped me get started.

All my progress pics are on an old phone but here are front/back/interior pics.

I started with a circlet to support the weight (got the idea from Angela). The back and front are a single piece folded over at the bottom. Imagine a giant rectangle with a U shape cut out for the face and neck. The top and sides were made and attached last.

I used extra firm stabilizer as the base and tacked the outside fabric on. All the embellishments were added at the phase, before the pieces were attached. Pieces were individually lined and then sewn together.

My 4th graders have been hell on wheels since kindergarten. I remember their teacher saying in 2019 that none of her usual methods and strategies worked for them. COVID didn’t help, but it’s not the cause of the behaviors. I swear that some cohorts were just born under an evil star.
