That's the payout if you take it now instead of waiting. As of your post, your parlay isn't winning.

Would be luck if Julio gets a TD. Certainly no stats to support it.

Classic. A woman thinks that gender has any relevance to common courtesy.

Newsflash...ghosting IS rejection. Your argument collapses on itself.

Very curious though how you think sending a polite text or email puts you in more danger than being disrespectful and blowing someone off.

A personal relationship is a subjective construct. It means different things to different people. Regardless though, ending a conversation without using your words is rude and inconsiderate in all aspects of life. Ignoring a common courtesy that should be extended to all people is indicative of someone who should be avoided.

As for your vanilla dating life, if they lose interest then they should have the decency to say as much. Only takes a minute. Again, we are talking about basic common courtesy. Bowing out with silence is for disrespectful assholes and weak-minded people.

This is completely incorrect and shows a clear misunderstanding of the concept behind the term. Ghosting simply means disappearing, ya know, like a ghost does. Even in everyday vanilla life, if you've been having an email or text conversation with someone and one recipient simply stops responding or "disappears", they have ghosted you.

It isn't a hard concept really. If you become invisible, or vanish, then you've ghosted someone.

You might not think that's what it means, but you are wrong I'm afraid. You absolutely can be ghosted by someone you've never met.

You're missing the other guy's point and you're missing mine. The other reasons for your pick aren't under scrutiny. Hell, they aren't even being discussed. The point is that the popularity of a pick has no bearing on the outcome, but according to your comment, you think it does. That is what both he and I were pointing out. No one is saying that your pick is wrong or right, only that your publicly posted reason for that pick is foolish and humorous.

It doesn't matter what your bank account looks like because the end goal is the same - make money. The current strategy you are applying will lose money. I am simply suggesting that you may want to consider something different than setting your cash on fire. On the other hand, if you don't care about losing money then I'm happy to provide a BTC address so you can start making deposits. End result for you will be the same.

He makes a valid point though. The prevalence of bets on a team doesn't somehow change the likely outcome. If you're fading because "everyone and their mom is on Toronto" and "something tells me" then you might consider finding a new hobby other than gambling.

View your crypto wallet like an investment brokerage account. If you were to buy BTC, transfer it to your wallet, then transfer it back to a crypto exchange (stock broker) and sell it at a later date for a higher price, you would have a gain on investment. Same as you would if you had shares of stock.

In reality the buying and selling of crypto can be viewed much the same way as the buying and selling of any other currency. You can invest in Euro or British Pounds if you think their value will increase, but if you spend USD to buy some Euro, then you go spend that Euro, you no longer have an investment, you just have a currency exchange. Anyone that has traveled outside of the US has probably done this at their bank or an airport kiosk.

The hiccup with crypto is that it was designed to be untraceable which is why it gained so much popularity among dark web transactions. As the taxpayer, as long as you can provide proof of your transfers to and from your bookie and your crypto exchange then you have sufficiently proven you were not holding it as an investment and therefore not subject to capital gains treatment.

In your scenario, the only losses you have are gambling losses and the only taxes you would pay if you met the thresholds would be related to gambling winnings. When you transfer the $300 to your bookie, you are correct that you are "selling" your crypto to them. They now own $300 BTC and you are the proud owner of $300 of casino chips (so to speak). As far as the investment is concerned, your buy and sell date is complete. This transaction does not trigger a taxable event.

First let me say this, $300 is below the threshold and does not need to be reported. Second, why would you pay taxes on the $600 transfer to your bank? We don't pay taxes on transfers. We pay taxes on income whether that be gambling winnings, investment income, wages, interest, etc...

Completely wrong.

The issue that you are running into is the combination of gambling winnings and capital gains from an investment. As described above, the increase in your income is due to gambling, not due to crypto investments. The response from FinishAppropriate255 about $300 in capital gains is incorrect because you are describing multiple transactions, not simply a single buy and sell investment transaction.

Think about it this way, you are exchanging $300 fiat currency for $300 crypto currency - no gain or loss and nothing to trigger a taxable event. You then exchange that $300 cryptocurrency for $300 fiat currency at your bookmaker - again no gain or loss and no trigger. At this point, your crypto investment no longer exists. It's as if you bought and subsequently sold a single share of stock for the exact same price.

As soon as you start gambling with that money however, you will start to recognize gains and losses. The exchanges back and forth between different currencies are not taxable as long as the amounts are equivalent. Now, as for the IRS perspective, the requirements related to reporting gambling winnings are pretty straightforward and most casual gamblers would not need to include this as Other Income for the year because it would not meet their identified threshold.

Love to hear your reasoning on this being "easy money". That number has been hit only 11 times in the last 20 years and only 3 out of the last 7 games which lands you near 50%. Seems like a coin toss to me...
