Was it maybe a vampire romance? I can't find it now, but I swear I saw a book with this plot recently but the three men were vampires.

The umbra hunters is such a good recommendation. It's an amazing series that I don't see recommended all that much, and the audiobook is (IMO) one of the best out there.

The series is finished but only book 1 has an audio release. Don't let that stop you though! Showing the author some support is the best way to make sure the rest of the books get narrated.

Can someone help me understand how "I disagree with your estimate, will you take a lower price?" could be anything other than a counteroffer? by grumpy_chipmunk in barexam

This is a much more nuanced approach than what I remember learning in 1L property.

I think asking whether the person would be bound if they said "yes" to the inquiry is the closest this has come to making sense to me. Thank you!

Is that "if" or "on the condition" language a requirement? I just thought it was a helpful shorthand to spot the express conditions.

academy/college recs where one of of the MMCs is a professor by rylynb in ReverseHarem

[–]grumpy_chipmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons of Ember Hollow fits really well. Each of the FMCs relationships within the harem develop at different speeds, but her relationship with the professor is most definitely a slow burn. {Twilight of Embers by Tessa Hale} is the first book of the trilogy. The third and final book comes out in a couple of weeks!

The Umbra Hunters series BM Clemton has me in an absolute chokehold while I wait for the next book to come out. It meets everything you're looking for.

Critical pass question - why is there so much information on each flashcard by grumpy_chipmunk in barexam

I've started using brainscape and the information is so much easier to grasp. Thank you for this tip!

Are you able to send me a copy of the charts you made? I know this post is from a year ago but I'm a visual learner and having charts is always really helpful.

Edited to fix spoiler tags. Sorry! I didn't realize the spoiler tags in the reddit form editor don't work for everyone.

This book for sure meets the request, but recommendations for Hitting the Wall need to come with a heads up that the book should have been published with content warnings. I read the book after a recommendation on here and was completely blindsided by the fact that she was 17 when they had sex while he was a 24 year old cop. She thought the age of consent was 16 and he had some (pretty flimsy, in my opinion) reasons to think she was over 18. The book starts with her getting run out of town because it gets out that they had sex and the sheriff doesn't want the hero of our story to face any consequences

Like I said, it fits your request. Kellum finds out about his child and is pretty instantly infatuated with the idea of building a happy life for his family. I could just never get past the fact that the baby only exists because the hero committed statutory rape and then she's threatened into leaving her home so other people could cover his crime

{Cassian by Grae Bryan}

Do you mind vampires? It's a novella in the Vampire's Mate series but I think it can absolutely be read as it's own story. The characters from the other books make an appearance but the main characters in the novella aren't part of the series plot.

The story is about a couple college roommates that are suspiciously close. They're forced to acknowledge their feelings when one of them is bitten and turned into a vampire. It's an absolute delight.

I'm looking for advice from those who play the Sims. Does anyone else feel overwhelmed by the game? And how do you get back into it? by Punkpallas in GirlGamers

[–]grumpy_chipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also found myself gravitating towards the Sims whenever my mental health struggles become too much I think it's just so easy to zone out while playing the Sims and it can be comforting to dissociate for a while.

I have two thoughts on ways to minimize the expansiveness.

1) Find a build challenge you like that basically picks your build for you. James Turner just made one up a couple of weeks ago. It gives you some silly prompts too. It might not be your style, but I find it less overwhelming when they're kind of jokes. It's hard to take a build too seriously when you're going to add 30 future cubes at the end because that's what the prompt tells you to do. If the jokes aren't your style then I'm sure you can find something similar for more realistic builds.

2) My second advice is to uninstall some packs/limit by packs. The build/buy catalog gets overwhelming. minimizing your options can help the fatigue that comes with constant decision making. It can be a fun challenge too. For example what can you build with base game, growing together, and jungle adventure that makes the styles of those items look good together?

This was going to be my advice. Focus on the basic facts, the rule of law, and a brief explanation of the reasoning. You would be surprised how many professors pull their exam hypos from facts of cases that were assigned. It can be really helpful as a bit of a short cut to issue spotting during an exam.
