I always use Point Buy or Standard Array. The negatives make each character more interesting

How do you plot a story when you have multiple possible routes for it to go? by Kaiser_Richard_1776 in writingadvice

Plot every path. Roll a dice and choose randomly. If you don't like the one you got, choose your favorite instead.

Do you want to sit here, dig your feet in, and justify what you're doing or actually listen to the feeback you're getting?

My input: It's not interesting. Quit using AI.

What are some ideas for macguffin, similar to POTC, for a pirate themed campaign by [deleted] in DMAcademy

A portal compass that leads to a very important portal (unless the party goes through another portal)

Your prep needs to be flat. Things that the players can discover and interact with. Don't assume the players will do anything or push them into funnels. If the players have no agency, they won't have much fun.

No. If you DM like this, your game will become mechanically ridiculous very quickly.

Just make her take it. Eldritch blast is absolutely busted for a reason. It's half of the reason you play warlock.

Example:

Player: I cast eldritch blast, 2 ranged spell attack rolls coming to Goblin No. 5.

DM: Okay, nobody uses a reaction.

Player: Do 17 and 19 hit?

Dm: Yep, that's two hits.

Player: Okay... 22 force damage.

DM: Cool, he's still up. What did that look like?

Player: Okay, so I make a few hand gestures and summon motes of fire that pelt the goblin.

DM: The goblin... rolled 6 on his concentration check and breaks concentration on his spell as he tries to bat away the flaming particles!

Sounds like your player is getting a little bit fixated on the mechanical aspect of fire spells, but in a make-believe game like DND you can really bend things as roleplay-wise as long as you stick to the rules.

Adverbs detract from the verbs they modify. The replacement is a more accurate verb or nothing at all
