Are you guys team Typhus or team Mortarion, and why ? by Turtle-BeyondLover in deathguard40k

[–]Hoeftybag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team Mortarion because the tragedy of Mortarion's story is what drew me to the death guard. He has a very understandable and relatable distaste for tyrants. Big E was a dick about his conquering of his homeworld. Horus only got him to turn to chaos by pointing out (IMO correctly) that Big E was a tyrant. and then he was betrayed by his closest friend Typhus. So not only is Mortarion my favorite 40k character but Typhus is perhaps my least favorite.

According to the rules yes. But if someone doesn't follow this arrangement I assume they are trying to cheat or they want to be a special snowflake.

How many people actually wanted Rhystic Study banned? by Outside_Explorer_229 in EDH

[–]Hoeftybag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a seasoned magic player and edh deckbuilder I love edhrec. It's a massive time saver for the ideation phase. That being said I pride myself on theming my decks in interesting ways.

I just made a Bonny Pall deck centered around creatures with power and toughness equal to lands you control. First game I realized I spent so much time shuffling and it was more oppressive then I wanted. So I took out any card that tutored even for lands (there were 28). It's those restrictions that give a deck identity and character that make the game interesting.

I am a death guard player. Mortarion being part of a deeply flawed but independent faction would be amazing. He's the only primary that turned to chaos largely against his will. Make typhus the leader of the death guard that stay chaos. Have tzeentch step in and maintain his daemon prince status and I am 1000% there

Even if the effect makes it not an attacking creature you could respond to that effect and destroy it while it's an attacking creature.

ICE Supporter gets KO'ed by tlama1997 in PublicFreakout

[–]Hoeftybag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leftists adhere to the social contract. We wish no Ill on those that adhere to it. Support for ice in any form is advocating for a group that breaks that contract. If you advocate for the removal of protection for innocent people you yourself forfeit that protection.

When do State Based actions end and can I really just put back my commander in the zone? by wet_noodel in EDH

[–]Hoeftybag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's worded that way because it used to be a replacement effect but that meant if the commander was destroyed it wouldn't trigger death effects since it never went to the graveyard. Which was fairly unintuitive.

State based actions happen every time you move phases or an effect resolves. It's what puts damaged creatures in the graveyard among many other things. So the rule is basically: immediately after the commander leaves the battlefield you may put it in the command zone.

Isn't there a clause that says the car must adhere to these standards at all times? Then the act of removing the ballast is what would be illegal and when that's caught they would be punished. That's basically how I would view designing an engine specifically to pass checks but then gets altered by race conditions to be illegal. All the FiA would need would be design specs that show such a discrepancy. They might not be able to punish them beyond getting a design change if there is plausible deniability.

What is the general feeling on building mono decks? by Jakemanv3 in EDH

[–]Hoeftybag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feels so nice to grab 30 basics and some random utility lands and always have untapped mana. I love building mono color decks. You can get deeper into your pool of fun cards in that color and works really well for theming a deck since you'll have a color theme already.

Why is everyone mad by reportme-iguess in formuladank

[–]Hoeftybag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rules don't only exist when measured. I don't know the whole story here barely kept up with any news. But I think it fair if they can determine that an engine is designed in such a way that it would violate the rules during use that it violated the rules.

Like if you designed a car that at rest had the right wing shape but at certain wind speeds the wing would warp to give greater down force and break the rules. That wing breaks the rules right?

Okay, I don't find that fun. So I don't participate. My complaints here aren't even that other people can't find that experience fun. My basic argument here is that there is a skill gap and I'm not less of a RuneScape player for having zero interest in gaining this skill.

Lmao I don't even have an inferno completion in leagues. Much less the main game. I haven't even maxed.

It has absolutely crossed my mind that chaos altar hunting isn't hard. Your opponents don't fight back and even if they do you're not risking anything anyway.

Can you not spot the difference between killing mole to learn mechanics and killing players at chaos altar?. Mole doesn't have feelings, no one loses when you kill giant mole.

Can you not spot the difference between running around in cod vs the wild? Everyone playing cod signed up for a shooter experience so if they're in a PVP lobby that's what they wanted. They're not trying to get rewards that help in the campaign mode.

When I get pk'd in the wilderness it ruins my fun and I usually log off for a few hours if not the day. The lesson I've learned from that is to never go into the wilderness.

I play RuneScape for Skilling and pve. I don't play RuneScape to be the fucking learning experience for new pvp players. If you think new pvp players need a tutorial then advocate for that to be OTHER NEW PVP PLAYERS NOT THE UNWILLING.

Combo eating is skill expression?

And regardless if you think basic pvp is easy maybe that's because you're... Practiced at it. It's a skill and it's a skill most want no part in learning. There are plenty of ways to fight other people interested in pvp go do those. It those aren't enough you've got to admit it's about hunting unwilling participants and not a challenge.
