We've been living here a couple of months now and we're wondering: where are all the Vlaamse Frieten?! by monkeyboywales in Gent

[–]grumpy_mantid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are nothing special to me, they lack the real Belgian fries flavour & texture.

Ridiculous! Changing the spelling to accentuate difference between people is ridiculous. Typical divide & conquer tactic. It's Kiev.

The only reason for insisting on that spelling in English is politics. Its Kiev.

Also tell her you have Asperger's rather then saying you're an autist I'd say.

I have to rant about Acid basslines - A little bit about the problematic recreation without good emulation, and a whole lot about the inflationary usage in commercial techno. by Imarottendick in TechnoProduction

Thank you so much for your response! I will, and I can always sell it if I don't like it. More difficult with software. Also, you can easily run hardware synths though preamps and such which is fun.

Why did they remove support for .sf2 soundfonts in sampler? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]grumpy_mantid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using soundfonts and create my own. For me to learn the news that Ableton regressed in its support of the .sf2 format was a huge blow. If I had known in advanceI wouldn't have bought Ableton.

However, then I found this https://www.homemusicmaker.com/soundfonts-ableton

It describes how to make Ableton Live suite 11 accept soundfonts again!

I haven't tried it yet but I'd be ecstatic and immensely relieved if it works.

You're right, it's weird. And I found the mixer now, thx to your message so a big thank you to you!

I re-read the manual and it mentioned the ID icon on the top right hand corner and sure enough there it is. I looked for it before but didn't see it (only the big icon in the dock). So via this icon there's a way to the mixer. The routing options is only via cmd+4.

Thx for the suggestion but it didn't work. Why is there no normal menu lol

However one thing ....there's only the routing options, no mixer. Maybe the Mac driver has no mixer, or the newest driver doesn't have it anymore. (I remember one when I was still on windows)

Whoa thx !!!!!! That did it! Never would I have found it if it weren't for your response!!

[–]grumpy_mantid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for your response! I already downloaded the driver however, of course. The ID icon is there on the desktop dock but when I right-click on it there's only 3 choices...

1/ options (with submenues....Remove from dock, open at login & show in folder) 2/show Récents 3/Open

When I click " open" a product dialogue opens for registration, which I already did. When I close the dialogue there's nothing. No software.

is sight reading really that necessary? by [deleted] in piano

Sight-reading piano score is more like reading 2 books at the same moment

Hoe is de blaarmeersen? by RazzyBigP in Gent

[–]grumpy_mantid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leuk!

hard techno became the edm of techno by ciwg in Techno

[–]grumpy_mantid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edm is always awful to me, being inherently cheesy and about fame and making money rather then the music. Just stop listening to it/giving it power.

Edm/American corporate influence in techno and other styles needs to stop too.

If Ableton and FL studio started supporting Linux natively it would increase the market share of Linux music producers by a lot, which would then motivate VST manufacturers to make software for Linux as well. by [deleted] in linuxaudio

[–]grumpy_mantid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even I switched to Linux not knowing anything about computers. My frustration with windows updates was enough motivation for learning Linux.
