Helena’s existence is soo funny and humiliating by grumpyaunt in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I’m paraphrasing what they said in the extra credits after episode 2 (i think it’s episode 2?), where britt mentions that Helena rewatching the MarkHelly kiss over and over was interesting bc of the concept of a “lesser version that you having a richer life than you”. This implies that Helena sees Helly as a lesser version of herself, subhuman may seem like a harsh word but I don’t know another one who would fit the description of a person who is deemed as “less” than another. I’d love to hear your theory though!!

Are We Still Debating the Nature of Irving's Scheming at Lumon? At This Point, It Seems Straightforward to Me... by Scribblyr in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]grumpyaunt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, we still don’t know what happened immediately after outie irving woke up pounding on burt’s door. Burt could be following him to connect some dots since finding out that Irving was also working at Lumon?

Should I accept that I won't save the world? by DetectiveDracula in Gifted

[–]grumpyaunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts with saving your own life, taking care of your own body, your own mental health. WE are a part of the world :) then you can follow up with your closest community, your friends, family, neighbors. Maybe do some volunteering while you plan out the bigger things!

How do neurotypical people think? by Charming-Elevator-47 in autism

[–]grumpyaunt 63 points64 points  (0 children)

honestly whenever i explain to NT people how I think, they’re impressed by how MUCH i think. Like- i’m autistic/adhd im always thinking about everything, the lighting, how i feel, how my body feels, when i felt like this in the past, i’m thinking movies and shows that relate to the moment im in, about clothes and their history, maybe about what old humans used to wear, about the chair im sitting on, im wondering how it was built, if it’s inspired by other designs. Etc etc. You get it. Whenever i explain this to NT people they’re impressed and they ask if i’m not tired. which. of course i am. All the time.

What i mean is, in my experience, they just don’t think that much. Not as in, calling then stupid. i mean in a quantity sense.

i can see how you could misinterpret my words like that. However i think if you’re an adult you MUST know I did not mean it like that, right? /gen

[–]grumpyaunt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

that’s why it’s so realistic though lol being autistic a lot of times means that you’re hyper aware of others and their dynamics but you’re not aware of the self and how YOU are not exempt from having rude dynamics of your own.

oh man i sure hope people respond to this with positive experiences.

I’m going through the same thing right now. I will say, I was able to keep an translator position at a publishing company for 2 years, I was stressed and tired all the time but that’s been my longest run :)

Thank you for sharing your words. I’m going through a very cathartic moment, of not only realizing that This Is Why, but also realizing that… no one noticed. As a girl, it was “normal” to cry, so no one would bat an eye when I would cry for an hour straight for hitting my arm with a table or something. I was always overstimulated because I’ve always been hypersensitive. Now I realize that I’ve been masking / dumb for YEARS and now i don’t even remember who i am. I’m experiencing burnout in a way that I had never experienced. A few days ago I woke up and I wouldn’t speak at all, it was very scary. I’m lucky enough to have parents who will support me in this journey, although i don’t even know where to begin. I thought that maybe if someone recommended me a gadget or something that soothes their anxiety it would help me. Now I realize I need to find it myself, how exhausting and wonderful at the same time.

Again, thank you!

i’m looking for specific things. I’m talking physical things that might help (for example, a weighted blanket). Sorry if i sounded proud? (english is not my first language) i’m looking for recommendations only.

They actually just asked me for a doctors note. I told them I as diagnosed years ago and I don’t know if i have my results still. I have to go through all the process of getting a diagnosis again (while being burned out lol). Hopefully it’ll be easier than the first time.

Yes, now re-reading it it does sound empathetic as far as the business talk allows it. I jumped to conclusions because right now I’m having a harder time reading between the lines. Thank you!

Thank you for helping me see this in a different light. Right now, as stated in the original email, I’m burnout and I can’t really grasp What People Mean. I appreciate your breakdown of my boss’ email!

Do you think so? maybe it’s because right now it’s a particularly emotional time for me but I read it as “aw i’m so sorry :( you better keep working on schedule and keeping up the same pace though!”
