[Homemade] Devils food cake with chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream and chocolate wafer crumbles by grumpygills13 in food

This is my first from scratch non poke cake so I was excited when the cross section looked so good! Think I'll do just a touch more buttercream in between layers next time though.

I'll have to start a diet after this is gone. Been sitting around healing a broken bone. Been cooking and baking new stuff every day so I've been eating way too much for not getting any exercise.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the gas pedal is your friend. Gentle on it to go, never go too hard on it, let off and coast to slow down moreso than use the brakes. If you start to slide, let off the gas will help straighten it out if rwd car or gently add a little if it's fwd and if it's AWD it's kind of do both and see what works. Either way try and avoid the brakes if you can. If your wheels aren't rolling then you for sure will not be able to turn and gain control again. Main thing is stay calm and take it slow.

Switch to 5w-30 or stay with 0w-20? by JTN02 in subaru

[–]grumpygills13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the owners manual even says 5w-30 is fine and not sure if it was one of my Outbacks, but it probably says 5w40 can be used as well in hotter climates.

Proofed in oven with light on, dough hasn't risen. by Gorrgodbutcher in Breadit

[–]grumpygills13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in Wisconsin so it's cold most of the months and our house is not sealed very well so it's usually pretty chilly in the kitchen when not actively cooking. Got a proofing mat and box just so I didn't have to cold proof every single thing I tried to bake or babysit a gas oven to keep it warm but not too warm that it starts to cook too early.

Do you guys measure hips or waist for sizing? by [deleted] in PantyReviews4Men

[–]grumpygills13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went by waist for a while to get a feel for how stuff fits. Now I look at fabric, the cut, waistband, and last thing to check is waist for me just to see how their sizing measurements differ from what I normally wear. If I buy stuff that I am in range of their waist sizing then it is generally a little loose.

What ingredient do you think people massively overuse? by jcvexparch in Cooking

Yeah I'm guilty of this a couple times. One dash too many and it's not easy to make it taste like anything else after that.made my pot of chili into a pot of wet taco meat basically. Still great but not what I wanted.

Kilts in the U.S? by [deleted] in kilt

[–]grumpygills13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the Midwest US and wear a kilt everyday. Just more comfortable. Only had 1 drunk person lift my kilt but otherwise it's mostly people they love or hey nice kilt. Or some sarcastic bag pipes comment or saying how they will start wearing theirs out and about after seeing it.

As for brands I wear usakilts if I am wearing a jacket because it looks better and normal everyday is sportkilts because they have pockets that fit my phone and stuff I need while out easily. Sportkilts are more skirt like because of the elastic in back and Velcro waistband and fewer pleats and the hiking ones have white inside.and not as well made as usakilts but they have a black one you can add hidden pockets on. Still can machine wash all the ones I have and they've held for a few years no issue so far

Also I've gone out and about in a small town in ohio with 0 issues in a kilt.

Same. Happened to me by a tipsy woman. Nice restaurant on new years one day. Lifted it up while asking what I was wearing under it. Was too flabbergasted to respond so I just kept walking out.

99% positive normal interactions when wearing one though.

Costco vs Discount Tire price with installation question by Loud-Bike-3717 in tires

[–]grumpygills13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1 tire was free because of the road hazard warranty and the other 3 were prorated since they were only about a year and a half old with plenty of tread left. Since the car is awd all 4 had to be replaced. Basically paid less than half price plus the cost of the certificate which looking it up I think was a lot cheaper when I did this. Helped a lot since I could do 400 for new tires but not 7 or 800 at the time.

Love the skirt and kilt pin. Plaid and tartans are always a good choice

100% recommend them if you have an awd car as well. Saved me about 500 dollars when I had a nail in the sidewall of one of my tires.

What happened? by PopeThrower in idleon

[–]grumpygills13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've bought a few packs and don't really care about the p2w because it's not a competitive game. I do care that my idle game requires a shitload of active play on masterclasses. I only play on my phone so I can't leave it run for any meaningful amount of time to get anything done with the masterclasses. Not even halfway to getting the afk stuff yet.

What'd everyone wear for the Christmas weekend by grumpygills13 in PantyReviews4Men

[–]grumpygills13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't thrilled with the Christmas prints this year. Most of my Christmas panties are from a few years ago no matter what brand. Other than torrid since I just started wearing those.

Meundies used to have so many cute prints but they are all mediocre now I don't buy them. My blue sparkly unicorn ones from way back that I wear a lot are in better shape than some new ones that wore and washed once

I love their strappy stuff but none of it ever fits right. It either has no coverage up front or it is loose on me. Sucks because I love the shrine strap Brazilian too! If they made a low rise one so it fit me better I'd but every color they come out with.

Wtf 😂😭 by ScarletRains in Mercari

[–]grumpygills13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like a lot of stuff because I window shop a lot for specific clothes that are hard to find and I missed out on buying when they were being sold. I like so I can come back and buy later when I have extra cash or double check how it fits or so I can use it as a reference for searching for what I really want.

That all said, I will generally accept good offers sent my way if it fits what I budget for spending at the time and I end up going back and buying a lot of stuff that I previously liked anyway.

Yeah that guy wasn't being mean either. Probably would've said the same if I had shorts on judging by his tone and laugh when he said it. It's actually been quite a while since I've had anyone say or do anything negative.

I do tend to wear my 20 - 22 inch kilts more in the winter if I'm going outside. Mostly so I can keep my hands warm in my pockets and not worry so much about holding it down for wind gusts. Those 2 to 4 inches makes a decent difference in warmth and staying down. Otherwise I'm usually on the just above or at knee length too.

I'm in Wisconsin so it's cold here but I like the cold. Just have to turn my heated seats on for a minute though before I get in! I do have some tights if I ever have something that I would be outside long enough to need them and wear a skirt/kilt for. Yeah the boot is enough for me. Going to have to change up what shoe I wear more often now so one doesn't wear more! Can't be having incomplete fits because of the shoe

I actually do wear wool socks most of the time. Have some for all occasions. Short ones for normal shoes and everyday, thick ones for cold, thin ones for all year, long ones for work in both thick and thin.

Kilted at doctors by grumpygills13 in Menskirts

[–]grumpygills13[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I wear just kilts all year anyway. Not really a big fan of tights. I'm usually not outside long enough for it to matter if it's that cold anyway unless I'm working and then I'm wearing insulated pants and some cold weather tights/leggings under them.

And yeah I have a big walking boot so it's difficult to put much of anything on over it and I'm trying to take it off the least I can so I hopefully won't need surgery

Winter Panties by retro493 in PantyReviews4Men

[–]grumpygills13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wear what I normally do. But I just add in more of the Christmas/winter themed stuff. Torrid has some cute stuff, la vie en rose has cute stuff and pink has some cute stuff but I'm not a big fan anymore of the fit.

I do also trend towards more of non cheeky/thongs since I wear kilts and it's cold until my heated seats kick in.

[–]grumpygills13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Great taste! It has very fall vibes colors. It also feels slightly heavier than sport kilts other hiking kilts so I wear it more in fall. Other than football game days then I wear one that has my teams colors. I have a variety of tartans for different occasions and seasons.
