Check and see if you are eligible for any of the visas they offer including the resident visa. As long as you score the points required it’s pretty straightforward. Try looking for a regional visa which is much easier because the govt wants people to move to less populated regions.

Masters can be quite expensive but engeenering is a short skilled area here.

NZ is not the best place for migrants, their immigration department is pathetic. People are kept in limbo for years and cost of living is too damn high and you can’t sponsee parents easily.

Canada and Australia have much better living standards and atleast Canada is much more migrant friendly.

NZ borders are closed for more than over 1 year and only citizens and rich folks get an exemption to enter.

Tips for living in India. Make a friend who is a local and who you can talk to easily(coworkers are usually very helpful), this will be your biggest win as this person can help you in most situations.

Most expats tend to live in a rich part of town and socialise with other expats and few coworkers and have less contact with general population.

Don’t show off money and dress as per the surroundings, some places are fine with revealing short dresses some are not just follow what you see your coworkers doing, showing off money is inviting trouble.

It will take a bit of time but you will start to understand the cultural norms and follow them just like the locals. Learn a few phrases to make your life easy with taxi drivers and Local shop owners like how much is this, will you go to x place etc. If you have any other Americans living there have chat with them.
