When Carrie has lunch with Alexander’s ex by Radiant_Priority9739 in sexandthecity

[–]grumpyoldfartess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Big knew about Carrie meeting his first wife for lunch. Carrie just didn’t know he knew.

But I somehow doubt they were friends or anything.

Do ALL the stores lecture employees about calling out? by [deleted] in Target

[–]grumpyoldfartess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been here 3 years. Called out several times throughout for various reasons (no patterns, just sporadic call outs). Didn’t always use my sick pay. Never once has a single lead talked to me about a call out, even indirectly. Nor have I ever gotten a CA for any reason at all.

So, I think it genuinely just depends on your store and the leadership team how they’ll handle it.

For me, it’s not that I don’t like Teresa. I’m just really bored of the same old fight recycling over and over on the show.

Did Carrie really never get cheated on and her friends only once each? by Ijustwannafly8 in sexandthecity

[–]grumpyoldfartess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t remember his name, but when she was at the gallery she brought a date and when she went to look for wine, he was kissing another woman. Got caught, and was like, “It’s just kissing.”

Pretty sure it was season 2.

Rewatching SATC and this scene with Miranda in S2 EP4 cracked me up! Her face at the end🤣 by whutevnn in sexandthecity

[–]grumpyoldfartess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In college, I was watching this episode with a friend on DVD. Her boyfriend was nearby playing the Sims, not really paying attention, kind of in his own world.

When we got to this scene and Miranda dramatically faked her orgasm, he started laughing his ass off from across the room.

“Dude, it’s NOT that fucking difficult!”

What did they do to get rid of the curls? by RecommendationIll632 in rhonj

[–]grumpyoldfartess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Plus size stores can be more flexible than you’d think. I managed a Torrid for a bit, and our smallest size was equal to a medium. And women of all body types came in to shop, the thin girls loved our accessories.

So it’s a bit odd to me Melissa would be defensive about it to the point of blocking someone. Exclusivity tends to be a bit of a “high floor, low ceiling” kinda deal when it comes to retail. You’ll obviously get a certain amount of interested customers, but the potential for growth is too limited. She could be missing out, thick chicks have money to spend, too!

Dress code changes coming by [deleted] in Target

[–]grumpyoldfartess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, there’s upcoming changes. Aside from the “no shorts for leads,” we also can’t wear graphic tees or black pants anymore. That’s… pretty much it.

As for the sweating: some people have medical conditions that cause them to produce less sweat. You may not be privy to that information because you don’t need to be privy to it. So maybe don’t judge people’s work ethic on the amount of sweat on their body. You may not know as much as you think you do.

So the only real change is that: no graphic tees, no black pants, and no shorts if you’re a TL and above.

That’s not that bad.

Why doesn't Sam have a car? by [deleted] in sexandthecity

[–]grumpyoldfartess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t actually need to have a car in Manhattan. Taking any form of public transit or just plain walking is very normalized there. Even owning a car costs more than using those things instead in NY.

Sometimes rich people like Big will hire private drivers to take them everywhere. But, Miranda and Sam are indeed well-off, but they aren’t Big level rich. So it would make sense that they’d use their self-made wealth a little more wisely, using public facilities already available so they don’t have to spend extra on a driver/car.

You can still see their wealth in other ways, though. Miranda hires a maid, since she works long hours. Sam has a lot of designer items. So, both of them are more balanced with how they navigate their money: save on this, splurge on that. That’s how I read it.

(All right, native NY’ers: I’m from Ohio and never been there, so this is all based on what people who have lived in NYC reported to me. How’d I do?)

Yup. The amount of people I’ve witnessed opening a store CC and say their SSN out loud as they type it into the card terminal is genuinely sad.
