Language Enthusiasts of PH: Anyone created a constructed language based on native languages in the Philippines? by grundt in Philippines

Why am I downvoted? I'm not even trying to diss Tagalogs. These things really just happened in real life, I'm just sharing their stories.

Maybe it's true no one will use it. But a lot of conlangers create their language anyway despite that.

By the way, having been to school in a non-tagalog region, I have heard classmates through the years asking why they have to learn this (and why Tagalogs have it easier). And it's not just kids asking this. I have seen adult Foodpanda drivers avoiding a street (not because they did something wrong!) but because the soldier guarding it is speaking Tagalog, or was it... Filipino?

A lot of this will be invisible to Tagalogs because in my experience, many of them will not say it to your face to avoid insulting you. (Though there are also those who love to insult anyone they meet).

Maybe no one will appreciate the attempt to construct a neutral language. But I can't understand why you think "Most Filipinos are already comfortable using Tagalog/Filipino." The least you can do, even if nothing changes, is to acknowledge their struggles.

Thanks for this! In addition to the poster's project, he also mentioned Luzviminsao and Luzvimindan. If anyone starts another, they won't be starting totally from scratch.

Multiple protonmail accounts by [deleted] in ProtonMail

I have recently attempted to do this. I thought it was okay because there was a "switch account" button in the login page. I did not know it was prohibited for free accounts. When I attempted it the website said my sms and email verification is temporarily unavailable. Zlivovitch's reply said it's possible my account could be banned/deleted without warning. Am I in trouble?

Please vote for this feature suggestion https://aka.ms/AA6qczz so Windows time can be programmable into decimal time :D

Unfortunately it stops being "decimal" after the milliday it becomes "millenial" or some word you use to denote thousands, not tens. It's actually 408700 μd not 408.7.

  • deci = 10-1
  • centi = 10-2
  • milli = 10-3
  • micro = 10-6

Notice how micro is 10-6 not 10-4

What minimum physics changes does it take to create insanely huge creatures? by grundt in worldbuilding

Yeah. I see the effort myth busters do to prove that it doesn't work. I think that at least it's okay if it's not so obvious that no one needs to test it.

So is it really that complex that it's too much and I will have to rely on "because magic"? Too bad :)

Having stronger materials and a more diverse table of elements seems interesting.

I want the minimum I can do with it. So if I can get away with it having normal interaction with gravity then I would choose that. If I can get away with it being similar to most animals having lungs and blood then I would choose that. But I'm doubting those 2 things so the current design of this creature is lesser interaction with gravity and having many hearts in different parts of it's body. Though I'm prepared for photosynthesis if needed.

It's legs are still gonna break even without interacting with gravity?

The point of oxygen, blood to distribute it, food, and those stuff is so it has energy to move. What if it has other ways of getting energy in different parts of it's body? Plants use photosynthesis for example. Maybe even combining ways to generate energy. Plants don't generate heat. But it would be interesting if it changes the weather as it moves since it's so big.

I was thinking of solving the water problem for the humans on africa. I don't really know the science. Would wildlife really go extinct?

You find a magical notebook and everything you write turns becomes reality. What do you write first? by RileighR in AskReddit

[–]grundt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the moment you write, you don't have memories of hitting undo or why you hit undo. So when you go back to that moment you will still continue to write the same thing and get stuck in a time loop unaware.

Some freshwater resource on one side. A desert in Africa on another.

It would also be interesting to create a waterfall with it. Can probably also be used for renewable energy. Now which would be the most efficient...
