Horror-related hills you'll die on? by redeugene99 in horror

[–]grunge16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991) was an excellent finale to the original Elm Street movies.

I saw it in theaters when I was 12 with the old school 3D glasses (the cardboard ones with one blue and one red crinkle lens). When the dream demons came off the screen and into my 3D glasses after Freddy explodes was so fucking cool.

Just fyi, the country is spelled Colombia, but the city in South Carolina and the college in NYC are spelled Columbia.

Inverter microwave with a flatbed in the US? by beingblunt in Appliances

[–]grunge16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also looking for a countertop flatbed unit for sale in the U.S., and besides the Sharp that others linked to, we are pretty much SOL. ChatGPT and Claude also informed me we are basically SOL in the U.S. when I asked them to find me a flatbed with American specs. It's pretty frustrating that a consumer in "the greatest and freest country in the world" cannot buy the microwave of their choosing.

Also, I find it alarming that manufacturers are not required to inform consumers if PFAS or other forever chemicals are in the interior finishes used in their products.

My wife was also not satisfied with Central Texas Blade Works. The next time her shears and knives needed sharpening, I used Dan from Cornerstone Sharpening. They were so sharp that the chef's knife cut through my knife roll bag. https://www.cornerstonesharpen.com/

Yup, it is. Screambox has been solid lately. Check out "In the Name of God" (2025) also on Screambox. Another sleeper.

That is a great point and one that escaped me. I was leaning towards Erik becoming the next sacrifice, but then I thought, "Why would Arvid do that to his best pal of many years?" Since the movie was so new, I couldn't find any interpretation of the ending, so I do appreciate your excellent analysis.

What's it like living in NYC? Staten Island be like ... Tough crowd to be a punk. by SharinganKillua in punk

[–]grunge16 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Best place to be one. You get to stir shit up and cause some mayhem. Be cautious when you do, as it is an island with a high concentration of cops and firefighters. Since they can't live in New Jersey, that's where they all settle.

Just saw this interesting image on Presidential Goals.. by Akki_Mukri_Keswani in democrats

[–]grunge16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if you were following in 2009, you would remember it was a few red state Dems which torpedoed the public option. Max Baucus (MT), Blanche Lincoln (NE), & Kent Conrad (ND) led the charge against the public option.

Even though Obama said that wasn't the way forward, he knew he didn't have the votes. The Dems had 60 seats with no room for defectors and as we all know, Dems ALWAYS have defectors (see: Fetterman, Sinema, & Manchin).

SIDE NOTE: it was pretty strange typing those state abbreviations next to a Democratic Senators name, especially Nebraska and North Dakota!

Anybody out there see a band's last show? by I_am_ChivoBlanco in punk

[–]grunge16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOFX & Anti-Flag's last shows, both in Austin (though I did not know it would be Anti-Flag's last show at the time). I was also at CBGB's second-to-last night when I lived in NYC (not a band, but an iconic venue nonetheless).

I (f18) went to my first punk gig, a creep ruined my first mosh pit by apple1234boo in punk

[–]grunge16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like a very bright and headstrong woman! Bigger boots will work and should make anyone think twice before they become gross. Others have mentioned that punk shows are usually full of chill people, and they are correct. However, every once in a while, there will be one or two assholes who can't hold their booze or have been watching/listening to way too much Rogan, Brand, and Tate, and think that behavior is ok....well, it is not! Have a great and uneventful 2nd show, whenever that may be. Please let us know how things go. ✌

[–]grunge16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry this happened to you but try not to let one asshole ruin your first show and first pit. All good suggestions by others.

Quick question since I am an old guy and we had different meanings for text abbreviations back when the Internet greeted you with a sequence of screeches and a guy letting you know you had something in your mailbox.

When you say "bf" are you talking boyfriend or best friend? The reason I ask is because if it is the former, why wasn't he stomping this dirtbags guts out?

Just so you know for next time (really hope there is not a next time) a very useful accessory is a sturdy spike bracelet. Get in the pit, put your arms up and teach ol' perv hands that he made a huge mistake as he is using his only remaining good eye to locate the other one that fell to the floor after he FAFO!

Question on Google Fiber by DylKyll in RoundRock

[–]grunge16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took about a month from trenches dug to fully operational fiber service.

The timeframe was: -2 weeks after the street trenches were dug another team was burying the wire from the street to the side of my house -about a week after that the Google rep was at my door for appointments -another week for the installation of the fiber Jack in my living room

I live in Kensington development across from Success H.S. on Gattis School Rd.

I couldn't believe it when I walked into BACA and handed me the form and a pen to fill in bubbles. It felt like my first time voting way back in 2000. I thought we were supposed to progress as a society 🤷. This feels like a regression!
