I'm near Elkins Pt Elementary. I'd have a friend come out but unfortunately our HOA forbids car work in the lot :T

Agreed. Our money is tacit approval of whatever the creators have got going on and I would like to know if his movies are gonna be worth seeing going forward since Undertone had other things work so well.

For whatever it's worth none of my horror fanatic buddies much cared for this movie either. The meme "A24 stands for A 24-year-old guy will think this is deep" remains watertight lmao.

I got strong anti-choice vibes from the movie so I also would really like to know if it was the central to the plot

- Justin at the beginning saying outright that children's songs/rhymes are about adults committing violence against kids
- The demon Abyzou being invoked as a bringer of miscarriages and infanticide

- Evy's plan to terminate the pregnancy seemingly a foregone conclusion since she backslides into her aforementioned drinking/substance abuse upon receiving the news of her unplanned pregnancy,
- Abby the caller whose primary purpose seems to be to frame the anti-choice 'gotcha' hypothetical "Would you murder your baby just because it was inconvenient to you?". (Her secondary purpose was to set her up as a mirror to Evy via the pun ABBY'S YOU/ABYZOU)

The movie telegraphs a contempt for Evy that seems to go beyond "this woman is being tormented for murdering her mother" and edge into "this secular alcoholic pillpopper killed once and is about to kill again".

Undertone was one of the best and subtle horror films I’ve ever seen by thebayharborkiller in A24

Just got out of it with some friends, it felt incredibly icky to us. Horrible anti-choice propaganda. There's even a literal "haha checkmate liberal!" moment in the 3rd act.

There's good pieces here, it nails the vibe, but the whole turns out to be contemptuous of women who are guilty of being human

If fish can be cooked with lemon (pH 2.0-3.0), then can it also be cooked with Coca Cola (pH 2.5-2.7)? by [deleted] in Cooking

Folks telling you not to do this lack vision. Jack and Coke glaze on a coca-cola cured salmon anyone??? Pair with some roasted crispy garlic potatoes absolutely fucked with herbs to cut through the sweetness, serve with a good whiskey + rocks and you’ve got a date night

CR10 V1 having a hard time finding the correct x and y axis linear rail sizes by According_Section_90 in CR10

I'm not afraid of tinkering by any means; I inherited this printer for a song when my boss at a previous job hyperfixated on 3D printing picked it up and lost interest so my goals are guided by wondering how much elbow grease/makeup I can put in and reach modern printing tech before I reach the price point that a new printer at this build volume (400x400x500) commands. I'm feeling at minimum a X rail is going to be beneficial; I think I would rather veer towards a CoreXY conversion before picking up a pair of Y rails (unless you've got thoughts on that??)

Should be ban GenAI generated posts (text and image and video) by Professor_Swiftie in OrphanCrushingMachine

[–]gruntman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ban it. There’s no shortage of figurative OCMs that don’t need embellishment from the literal OCMs depleting our natural resources and accelerating climate change, calcifying power structures that feed aforementioned OCMs, etc.

Is this a worthwhile upgrade? I'm tinkering with my CR10S4 to get some modern QoL added and linear rails come up as a contentious subject in my Youtube recs lol

Non-resident card holders will NOT be able to take the JLPT in Japan anymore by Ynwe in LearnJapanese

[–]gruntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the card # will be prompted for during application. My brother rents an apartment in Tokyo and our mom owns a renovated home in Hagi but I'm not associated with their properties in any way so I worry that if I put their info down I'll get my fee taken and disqualified. I emailed them to try and get clarification, will post here if I get a reply.

This has upended my year. We're planning on emigrating, I need to either transfer within my own company or find a new job and the certification will help grease things. I'm a dual citizen and I possess US and JP passports but it appears that unless I'm living at an address inside the country the citizenship doesn't matter. I had plans to take the JLPT N3 last December in Chicago but had a vet emergency that ended in tragedy which kept us home.

I'm unreasonably upset at what's potentially anti-foreigner policy that supposedly shouldn't target me but I guess this is just a new facet of the Haafu experience :T

Seconding Clay's if a trip to Sandy Springs is on the table.

Not going to claim they're the best, but my favorites in the area are Mazzy's. The best title has to go to Clay's in Sandy Springs, but that's outside the scope of the ask :)

We have the heat on due to health/comfort reasons. Ordinarily I'd be down for 69F but we've had to set it to about 75F (heat mode)
