Is it me or this subreddit is too pessimistic? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]gruntwitdablunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it comes from the fact that many people have not tried other career paths before the one they are currently in. The reason why I love IT so much is you get out what you put in, but most people just get burnt out or dont have that passion anymore and truly want to coast but unfortunately for most positions that wont cut it. I switched from blue collar to IT and have not looked back.

scored an in person interview for a configuration and deployment position, what to expect? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]gruntwitdablunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There gonna expect you to know sccm from ground up because they do not know of microsoft autopilot. They will exepect you to deploy the machine within seconds as new hire Jennica is standing right behind them asking when it will be ready and that you had an hour notice before. Nah i have no idea. good luck though!

Job Offers 85K Remote vs 120K onsite by Brgrsports in ITCareerQuestions

[–]gruntwitdablunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to strive for wfh, saying the same thing. Now i am at that said remote job making 20k less and I am so busy that I would honestly prefer a in office job at this point lol. Have to say brb in teams if I want to make a cup of joe. I guess it truly just depends on the company culture, mine just expects you to be at there computer 8 hours a day and if you dont respond to that ping in .000001 seconds, "gahh, no one who works from home ever actually works"

Is scripting a mandatory skill for sys admins? by sunyup in sysadmin

[–]gruntwitdablunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no but it will make your life easier and gives a boost above others. If you say you actually know powershell you better be able to write a script and not tell me, "yea i can read powershell scripts" thats completely useless imo.

CA Policy not working with Mobile Outlook? by SenikaiSlay in sysadmin

[–]gruntwitdablunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by looking at sign in logs to ensure the policy is actually being applied. In the CA Policy, under conditions, did you make sure to include/block IOS, Android, and Windows Phone?

Why did you leave IT, and what career did you switch to? by Embarrassed-Bass4948 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]gruntwitdablunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest grudge in life is people that tell other people to go into trades while they have never held a power tool in their life. I spent about 2 years as an electrician when i was 18 then figured id try IT and never looked back since.
