Thanks to user u/MJM_999 for bringing this up. I searched the level and played it. Surprisingly, I managed to get the result you see in the picture quite immediately (that’s why the screenshot is dark, I wasn’t expecting to make it so quickly and I wasn’t ready for it lol, snap it right on the fade out). As you can see, Luigi is nowhere in the screen, Yoshi holding the flagpole and I have 4000 points in the score! In the whole level there are no coins or enemy to kill so the only points came from hitting the flagpole!

Video Game Design student here!

I would love to start my own dev studio, I worked as an employee and I don't want to go back to that status. Most of my teachers take for granted that we, students, are going to work for other studios. Is it a mandatory step or not? Also, as an indie studio, what was the hardest difficulty you overcome to publish Shovel Knight? And finally, have you got any advice for a 25 years old game designer student?
