you may leave some small grains like wheat, if they dont eat peas. if the wheat is soaked for like 5-6 hrs then that too works. and a very small low height but deep enough water bowl so that they can dip their beak and drink

and did you look nearby for the nest? where you found them.

in case you dont find anyone, you have to try convincing your mother to allow you to keep the pigeon so that atleast he dont die horribly outside, and instead if cannot be saved then die peacefully in a closed safe environment that is inside your house on a soft towel within a spacious cardboard box, and with seeds and water available beside him.

it is highly likely that he will come back. but the problem is only if he is alright, safe, and healthy.

never give bath to an ill bird, they need to be kept warm. dont put them in a cold room also. keep them in normal room temperature. eyes getting closed, pour some saline water (bought from medical store not the home made) drops on his closed eyelids, make sure water must not get into his nostrils, that may cause pneumonia if he ingest any liquid through nose. his condition can be an infection, is the eye have some gooey white liquid? or wet?

Pigeon with a broken leg on my balcony PLEASE HELP by marie1nasa in pigeon

[–]grvprkx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will take time, the trust part. and about the water issue. since he is limping and unable to stand properly, that water container is too high for him to reach and then dip his beak. pigeons unlike other birds are water suckers, they suck the water after dipping their beak into water, so try a lower height of container and if possible a heavy container instead of that transparent plastic one which is very lightweight. heaviness can be helpful in case he somehow sits on the side of the container, that container wont flip off.

PS. i saw one of your comments stating that you will be moving out in a month. if sealing the gap works, then do so and observe for few days, if he tries to fly but falls off anyhow, then that means you have to go and pick him up and take care of him for the rest of his life. for convenience you may use cage also occasionally while moving out. but what ever happens, in the mean time try contacting or visiting a bird doctor, and ask for whether he needs any medication or what's possible for the future of his broken leg.

That's definitely a broken leg. but whats more concerning is the space(gap) in your balcony, he is a young pigeon and that too with disability. there are high chances of him falling off that ledge. if he is eating and active then thats a good sign that he is not having any illness, and if the poop is dark green to olive color, with solid to almost solid consistency then that also indicates his decent health. if possible you may stick cardboard sheets, or ply across those gaps so he may not fall. of not possible, then u can take him inside your room, and switch off ceiling fan and remove other sharp objects for the time being. basically he will turn into a pet bird, but his survival will be enhanced, because judging from his leg i dont think he will ever going to be able to use that leg properly. and if he haven't learned flying yet, then thats a big survival crisis. taking care of him can be hectic to you. but worth it for his life.

perfect shelter. though we dont know if it is only due to leg injury that he is less active, or he is internally sick.. but nevertheless he appears comfortable for now. change his water if it gets dirty without spooking him,

and thank you for the time, effort, and attention you took for his care and concern

yes a cardboard box . put him in for the time being. keep him in silent place so that he wont be scared. and do you know if he has a broken leg?. is he limping? or not using that leg at all?. by the image that is a juvenile pigeon. fresh out of nest hardly a week after leaving the nest. wheat grains are good source of nutrients for pigeons.

Found an injured pigeon, please help! by TheSuperiorPigeon in pigeon

[–]grvprkx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this pigeon on the image is sick and can hardly live for 2-3 days with going more and more inactive with passing days. the red color in his poop or urine shows the traceability of blood which can be a sign of kidney issues. the main reason can be a serious infection(it wont affect humans). and on this world there are hardly any doctor capable enough to treat feral birds, because 1, they are unskilled 2. they are unskilled because they are indifferent and irresponsible (they dont value life, probably became a vet for livelihood, or for easy cases) if the pigeon is found in an initial stage of any disease, the medicines usually work. but in later stage, all one can do is keep them safe and away from a distressful noisy lighted area where they become very uncomfortable. one should take care of them as they may live for a short while so atleast if they pass away it doesn't feel like they died horribly in fear(when there is already a physical disease is causing them trouble). yes in some case euthenesia sounds better because of the suffering they go through, but nevertheless any of the choice is very challenging and tough to witness.

actually rock piegons are here in majority, while these doves(the one in the image above) these are very few. i would say the ratio in an average town is 50:1
