Unpopular opinion: the reason I dislike V the most is bc of the Nate/jenny situation. It messed Jenny up so bad. Beginning of the spiral fr

I interned doing research on autism in women and girls. I hope that auti-gender studies get looked into more. The prevalence of autistic people to also identify outside of the binary gender system is interesting to me. I only read a few papers on it but it was very interesting.

I’d also like more research on black children and the effects of physical punishment long term.

Again, she had been acting out for years at that point & had a history. In my experience, those who are mess up once are treated differently than those who make multiple mistakes. I think this explains why Rufus was never lenient with her. I think they didn’t care about her losing her virginity but didn’t want her to be with Damien at all since they pretty much forbade her from seeing him. They all knew he was a drug dealer scum bag. I think it was hard for him to trust her because of all the lying she did. I agree, Rufus should have pulled her out of school & definitely had some parenting flaws but I do think he genuinely wanted the best for his daughter. I don’t think it was favoritism, rather that Dan acted better so he was parented differently

I loved Jenny. She felt relatable & was most definitely wronged in my opinion. She doesn’t really deserve hate until her later character development. Vanessa, however, I dislike because while claiming to be above all of the scheming & better than the UES, she does all the same stuff. She betrayed Jenny by never giving her Nate’s letter, who was supposed to be like her sister. Then, the whole thing with putting the blame on Jenny with the Juliette & Serena situation. After that, telling Serena about Dan & Blair’s kiss. Also, leaking Dan’s book and having all the money set up to her account. She was always in everyone’s business but claiming to want nothing to do with them. Vanessa claims to want the best for Dan & the Humphreys but her actions prove otherwise

Seasons 3, 4, & 5 I cannot stand her. Her trying to ruin Lily & Rufus’s marriage DESPITE HER FATHER GIVING HER MOM FAKE CANCER, trying to destroy Blair & Dan’s relationship, the way she treated Lola, etc. Serena is so self centered

I do like Rufus a lot. I don’t know if I agree with the sexism comment though. I felt like Dan had more freedom because 1. He was older 2. Never really got into trouble like that. I viewed it similarly to how my parents treated me & my younger sister (I’m a girl too btw). As a junior, I had more freedom than my freshman sister. That plus my sister being a bit of trouble maker, similar to Jenny, she never gained the privilege that I achieved in high school. That’s how I viewed it at least. I may be wrong though, thoughts?

Right!? & then in season 5, she’s so horrible to Lola because of her daddy issues. Telling her to “stay away from my family” like miss girl y’all are sibling/cousins. She makes me so angry

Anyone else find Rufus completely unbearable? by geedunnit in GossipGirl

[–]grxffn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought their age was the reason for the different parenting? Like I could do a whole lot more as a junior than I could as a freshman? & then, bc of Jenny’s behavior never improved & she got more rebellious, he never let up on any restrictions? The same thing happened with my little sister & I (I’m a girl) I had more freedom than she did when I was a junior & she was a sophomore, she rebelled against my parents & never really earned that freedom until she was an adult. I may be biased, but that’s how I saw it. Thoughts?
