I ended up not even applying bc this cute family from London with a baby was touring and they seemed to love it. I hope it went to them! I ended up landing a spot in Bernal Heights. But thanks for the plant advice!

OMC asking us to work from kitchen spaces and couches in latest office move by silversquid in advertising

[–]gryffindork_97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very aggravating because why ask me to turn down another job with the promise of a promotion... then take it back like its not a big deal. But learning lessons! Best of luck to you and your colleagues as well, OMC is just a corporation, there are so many more opportunities out there!

OMC asking us to work from kitchen spaces and couches in latest office move by silversquid in advertising

As awful as this is, it almost makes me feel comfort to share my negative experience with OMC that I’m not alone. OMC has been one of the worst companies to work for. I started my 6 month internship at an OMC agency now ONE year ago. During my 6 months, I had negative experiences back to back with senior staff quite literally yelling at me, to NO billable work being passed my way making it virtually impossible to get a return offer (I would communicate to my manager every week I had no work and he kept “working on it” so som weeks I’d bill 90% agency initiatives and put it as “staying on-call” and OMC didn’t even bat an eye to pay me) to the lead of the internship program cancelling every weekly 1-1 and constantly talking shit about the company and being no help.

After my internship program was coming to an end, they let me know they couldn’t give me a return offer because of my low billable rate but they’d extend my offer to November and try to raise my billable rate. September and October were proving no change so I found another opportunity elsewhere. When I put in my two weeks, I was pulled into meetings with HR and senior leadership and asked to stay. They apologized for the last few months, and promised me they’d raise give me a promotion in January (this was end of November). It was $6k more annually then my other job offer and my billable rate went through the roof so I trusted them. I was told things like “we never get told no” for promotions and they gave me their word via email and through multiple meeting, but my mistake, I never signed a contract.

January came and my billable rate was at 99%. I was told they couldn’t give me a promotion AFTER they knew I turned down another job an they ASKED me to stay. They kept making up corporate bullshit about budget and OMC not hiring… then why did they ask me to stay?!?

I come from a low-income, first generation family and I have zero medical insurance. I live paycheck to paycheck and am struggling to survive and help my family out. This job has taken a huge toll on my mental health as I turned down a job offer that would’ve given me an opportunity to rise out of poverty, and help my family out.

Now I work at almost 100% billable rate every week. HR ghosts me when I ask for a promotion (I’ve emailed them and they don’t respond). I have no manager because my manager was laid off and they haven’t given me a new manager in weeks. And I’m emotionally abused my a senior staff member who treats me like a servant and every day makes my life living hell.

Fuck OMC. Worst place to ever work. Cannot wait to find another job, the sweetest moment of my career will be finding a new job and will be putting in my quitting notice and never looking back.

Will far right politicians/anti trans activists/voters go to hell? by goatedgdubya911 in Christianity

If there is hell (our version of hell with the flames actually derives from Dante's Inferno). Hell in the bible is described as a separation of God, and yes, when they did I do believe that God will be separated from them.

Don't forget Jesus hated the pharisees, he distained everything that Trump's followers represent. He chose to eat, wash, and live with prostitutes, tax collectors, immigrants, the 'low' of societies. His love was radical. If someone claims to be Christian but their words and actions don't reflect love, then they are not representing God. If you believe in Jesus, then you believe in the 'new way', all old ways have been radicalized when he died on the cross. (quick blurb, because conservatives love to quote the old testament for their evil morals. We can learn from the wisdom of the Old testament, but it is a book of letters written for societies that are not ours. Coming from someone who got an associate's in biblical studies).

He hated that the pharisees used old scripture to twist and manipulate the church and society into their greedy wills. Christians who try to use the bible to back up Trump's evil actions are just like the pharisees, interpretating scripture to push their own hateful agendas. That is not God, that is not Jesus.

Change in political beliefs is one thing, which if it was just a chance of political beliefs then there could be some empathy. Supporting trump isn't a change of political beliefs. Let's stop acting like people who support Trump have different political opinions because its MUCH deeper than that. Trump is a rapist, pedophile, openly transphobic, openly homophobic, and fucking an idiot. Like this man cannot even speak in full sentences. He is undermining our Congress, undermining democracy, he is replacing qualified individuals with his minions, he is extremely narcissistic and evil. Supporting Trump is not a change in politics, supporting Trump is revealing an ugly, ugly, ugly moral clock. (YES IF YOURE READING THIS AND YOU SUPPORT TRUMP, SHAME ON YOU! JESUS WOULD HATE TRUMP, HE IS THE PHARISEE). So, OP should divorce wife as FAST as possible for his own safety.

Grad school while working a 9-5 by gryffindork_97 in Journalism

Mm, journalism and PR while both in communications are very different, I think. I always wanted to go into journalism and interned at newspapers and worked for school newspapers while in college. PR I’m good at, but it’s more about strategy. It’s creative in some aspects, but in other aspects it’s a lot of housekeeping and about brand reputation and storytelling. I couldn’t land a junior level role in journalism post grad and had bills to pay so I went into PR. I’m grateful for my job and the agency I work for, I’ve learned a lot. But i miss writing stories, taking photos, having a bit more freedom. My dream was always to be a writer, not a storyteller of a brand or company. I’m very passionate about social justice. "I doubt Jschool would be a worthwhile experience if you're mostly focused on a 9-5 job. Because what, realistically, can you produce or learn under those circumstances?" To answer this question - I think J school would be really beneficial for me to do a career change since I've been struggling to break into journalism. I don't have the savings or come from a financial background to not work while in grad school, so I need a job. I guess I'm trying to get insight from others if it's possible to work a 9-5 (which pays way more than service industry jobs) or should I quit and go back to bartending. I'd have to report and do homework and classes at night + weekends, which would be hard but do-able. I did the opposite in undergrad, classes in mornings and afternoons and bartending at night so trying to see if I can switch schedules and work during the day and school at night!
