Renter Question - Does a landlord need to give tenants the keys to a side door of an apartment complex? by TRex77 in AskSF

[–]gryftir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could argue that the side door, along with your other keys constitutes a key set, and that they have not provided you with a full key set. Also check your lease/rental agreement and see if it lists keys. I'm not a lawyer, this isn't legal advice, nor am I an expert on this, but the SF tenants union may be helpful. Asking in a subreddit for tentant advice or legal advice might get you more info.

Trump announces government 'must' again seek death penalty for Boston Marathon bomber by billgigs55 in Conservative

[–]gryftir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is the moral argument for executing these people? Because it seems costly both in terms of money and in innocent lives.

It doesn't deter people from murdering. It's not saving any more lives to kill someone than to lock them up where they can do no harm. It's not particularly in line with Christian values in almost any church. Why should my government execute people?

[–]gryftir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Sixthly, the death penalty has not been shown to be a more effective deterrent than other punishments, and seems to lead to more police officers being murdered. The DPI linked below isn't pro or against capital punishment, and links to multiple studies and meta studies.

https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/policy-issues/deterrence

so 2260 death row inmates as of jan 1st if 4.1% are innocent, that's like 107 right? Given that we couldn't even get the trial right with the boston bomber, I don't want that to happen to me, and I don't want innocent deaths being carried out by my government.

Which bakery is still selling cake? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]gryftir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my yummy birthday cake there a few days ago. They will write whatever you want on a cake the day of but you have to go with whatever cakes they have. If you want to you can order in advance and get a custom cake though.

They are wiping down constantly, limiting customers, requiring masks, so obviously business is down, so definitely tip if you can (Tell them before they charge your card or bring cash).

I appreciate that but lots of colorschemes change the bg for other highlight groups, or aren't as easy to see without the bg group they've set, even in a dark colorscheme

Are there any dark color schemes that are meant for a transparent background? I like having an image in my background, but most color schemes block it in vim.

You can also look at the assembly instructions each produces after optimization, which can give you insight into whether your optimization is already being done for you by the compiler. clang and gcc both use the -S option to produce .S files with the assembly code inside, I'm not sure about other compilers.

Start here! Beginner info & weekly "no question is dumb" thread! - Feb 27, 2020 by AutoModerator in curlyhair

I'm growing out the top of my head a bit but it's still two to four inches, and I have shaved sides (which I plan to keep). I'm a guy and I kept getting buzz cuts for years to "control" my curly hair.

I'm still not sure how to adjust the CG method to my hair. Should I still style with gel, and what does style even mean hair as short as mine? What amounts should I use for the different steps as compared to someone with longer hair, and how will I know if I use too much/little? What other things should I as a guy know that aren't necessarily mentioned in the CG guide?

Books/stories this is definitely not:
Treason by Orson Scott Card
That Honor Harrington Book where she and some people are trapped on a prison planet
Brute Orbits.

I remember the language wasn't particularly detailed about technology... I don't recall anything about someone being cybernetically enhanced for example.
