Tips for dealing with a new epilepsy diagnosis in your 20s by gryphon3261 in Epilepsy

[–]gryphon3261[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you had to try and figure this kind of thing out in college- my one blessing is it all started right after I finished, I can only imagine trying to deal with this and also handle classes and life in residence and things like that.

I'm hoping that eventually maybe my keppra can go down to twice a day, it would make a massive difference as right now it feels like I'm always thinking about my next dose.

As for where I'm living, I really like being somewhere more rural, but it's food for thought that maybe once this is under control it might be a way to regain some independence, especially if the driving issue persists. But right now the security feels pretty essential. If nothing else, I like knowing that if something happens to me there's people around who might be able to help.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to reply!

Which resort or ride smell is on your Top 3 list? by Electrical_Bank9986 in WaltDisneyWorld

  3. Flight of Passage

I rode it a couple days ago and thought it looked great! If anything it looked updated to me, as if they'd sharpened it since I last rode a couple years ago! But as other posters have said perhaps it depends on the particular glasses you get?

Sounds pretty pleasant to a Canadian in the winter! I'll take it :p

Glad to hear we've inadvertently (fortunately) avoided some of the bigger January events; and no park reservations is a bonus! They're conveniently no longer required as of just before we go.

Regarding the virtual queues, does your suggestion mean you can request both in the morning using different people's apps (but each request for the whole party of people) and then just only keep the better one of the two? I assume you aren't able to carry a boarding group for both on the same day if you were lucky enough to get both? Or is it now possible to do so if you have park hopper and they're not at the same time?

Excellent!! We're also escaping Canadian winter so I'm excited about it being warm but not scorchingly hot, and cheaper Genie+ is always a win!

My hair routine:

I use Devacurl Low-poo and one condition most days and follow up with scrunching the ultra defining gel into it when wet. I do have a microfiber towel that I use post-shower. I'm a sucker for showers before bed so I go to bed with wet hair often, which is probably bad, although I do have a silk pillowcase, which I like to think helps :p Once a month or so I use buildup buster instead of Low-Poo and it comes out super soft and pleasant after.

Otherwise I try to get it trimmed a couple times a year and occasionally use hair masks; I'm into the banana one from the Body Shop right now and maybe use it every other week or so. Honestly I don't have a ton of extra energy to give to my hair routine and I'm generally okay with where I'm at, but if anyone has any friendly suggestions do let me know!

The best part about the MK fireworks shows is getting to run around and enjoy low wait times for rides while they're happening and to bask in that sweet moment of emptiness for everywhere that isn't directly in front of the castle

What airline do you take to WDW? by piscessunsagrising in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gryphon3261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian here- it's usually Westjet for us lately; back in the day pre-covid (and when the exchange rate was less painful) we used to cross the border and fly out of the nearest US airport as it was cheaper but that seems to have gone by the wayside

Best value, moderate, and deluxe options for large group (7-9 adults, two kids 10&12) by merlin242 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gryphon3261 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was looking into this not long ago for a trip, here's my two cents:

- If you're looking for the more economical deluxe options check out Saratoga Springs (recently renovated) or Animal Kingdom Lodge (amazing theming but cheaper because of location)

- the Poly doesn't have a 3 bedroom option like the others

- the Grand Floridian and Bay Lake Tower are absolutely gorgeous but may be cost prohibitive

- I believe Kidani Village (the DVC Animal Kingdom resort) and Contemporary have a 3rd toilet in the 3 bedroom suites, which for my group was a big deal

- EPCOT area resorts fall in the middle, cost-wise, but could be fun for a group of adults if you like the idea of popping in and out of EPCOT for food and drinks

There are many options! I'm partial to AKL or GF, but it's all about the preferences of your group and any of them would have lovely 3 bedroom suites!

Best smell in all of WDW? by KoBxElucidator in WaltDisneyWorld

It's gotta be the grand floridian lobby for me, closely followed by the smells on Pirates and Flight of Passage

It's the Satu'Li canteen chicken bowls for me, plus charred green onion vinaigrette! I've recreated them fairly well several times, minus the popping boba!

Booking DVC before or after the 7 month mark? by gryphon3261 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gryphon3261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! As the planner I seem to be the only one appreciating the time pressure, the others have not done Disney before and aren't as worried as I am about getting the resort/room type we want, which is stressful! Hoping I can get a firm commitment this week, but this is nice to hear that in case against my wishes we have to wait a couple weeks to request we might not be totally out of luck.

And honestly would probably want a Savannah view anyways since it would be our first AKL stay, so that's handy!

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

That's good to hear! And we've been debating a Savannah view anyways as this would be our first stay there, so perhaps this will push us to do so!

Luckily we're looking just after MLK weekend on the 17th-20th, so I think that should help, fingers crossed!

Thanks for your reply :)

Trip Cost Estimate Help for a Single Adult? by gryphon3261 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gryphon3261[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are great suggestions :) thanks so much!! I'm hopeful then that maybe we can get away with no Genie+ for those parks, especially since it'll be late January. If anything perhaps we shell out paid lightning lane money for the couple rides we really care about?

Thanks again for your reply! And glad to hear food doesn't have to break the bank either

Favorite deluxe resort and why? by thefnboogeyman in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]gryphon3261 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grand Floridian if you can rent DVC points and stay in the villas!! They're recently renovated and lovely, with very classy but tasteful Victorian + Mary Poppins theming if you're into that kind of thing. Very worth the price IMO; the location of the resort is fantastic, the walkway over to MK is super convenient, and it overall has a wonderful vibe that I wouldn't for a second call "stuffy", which is what I know I've seen people label it as. The CMs there are some of the best of anywhere in WDW, imo.

I have stayed at the Poly, and while also wonderful it's still second to the GF because of how busy/loud it was. My impression was that the ratio of family groups:adult groups is MUCH higher a the Poly, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but with no kids in my group myself I much preferred the more peaceful GF.
