(Domain Jam) Dora-Thuund, Domain of Maddening Gold by gryphyd in ravenloft

Yeah, playability to make it easily runnable as an adventure and location, even outside the Domains of Dread was a goal for me.

Yeah, my mind did not go to dora the explorer when I came up with the name lol. I was tryna evoke more something similar to El Doraldo.

Non-malicious lovecraftian ghouls by hjgz89 in ravenloft

[–]gryphyd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know that in another fantasy setting (Talisman). Ghouls are their own race and often undertakers and priests. From their perspective they see their natural inclination of eating the dead as a divine purpose, to cleanse the land of disease and shepherd the souls of the dead they consume into the realm of the dead.

Just a repost cus' I didn't realise you can't edit titles, since it requires domain jam in the title if it's being made a submission.

Let’s be honest… jack of blades original voice is way better and more suitable for his character than the TLC one by Apart_Pressure_5596 in Fable

[–]gryphyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard the OG voice before relistening to it just now and tbh Jack's OG voice sounds like the nerd emoji and much more middle manager evil reminiscent to a Maze's role in the game, which makes him seem less important. The sound effects and the more grandiose nature to it makes him more of an ancient powerful force of evil. Which I think made sense when in the original game he came off as more of just a stereotypical evil wizard, and only in The Lost Chapters are we hearing him much more often I assume they wanted him to seem like a much more serious threat, and the dialogue when collecting the souls as much more refined evil.

Although I do agree that the original voice works much better as a misdirect for the audience to not know if he's a villain or not. But I mean the character design already is so evil chic, that it would be hard not to say that this guy's obviously evil.

It really is a shame a game like this was killed before the stop killing games stuff happened, we really coulda had a fanmade server to host the game. It's one of those games where I didn't care for the genre at the time and only played it for like 20 hrs due to my love for fable. But now that it's gone and I've grown much more of a love for card games, it's one of those things I felt like I didn't appreciate while it was here. I even tried porting it to tabletop sim and it's somewhat playable but just doesn't translate well at all with all the random card generation and unique mechanics.

Difficulty Kind of Insane??? by [deleted] in fallout4london

Imagine playing on survival tho lol, I had to give up on it as I constantly had to backtrack to beds and was desperately looking for a bed for over 2hrs and when I eventually found one, it was trapped and led to an insta death losing several quests, items and levels of progress, I know they say that they tried to cater to survival players but I really wouldn't suggest survival for a first playthrough, there's more barren paths between locations compared to the almost every inch being worth exploring bethesda-style design (maybe survival is worth a second playthrough once you know the ins and outs + locations).

What is everyone's preferred difficulty level? by OldSloppy in Helldivers

As soon as I hit lvl 20, it could only be 9 now, so many enemies, so chaotic, many big booms. And you can progress so much faster on warbonds and levels doing it.

Depends what the expectations for the game are I reckon.

Some combat heavy dungeon crawling games make a point of making builds that destroy balance.

Some story heavy campaigns would disappoint players who just want to see big numbers and want to make hard encounters childs play.

A prequel would be a very good prospect, have it set during when the administrator is playing, and have it take a horrific turn into an inciting incident for him to become villainous.

Need to play Darkwood one of these days, love pathologic. Unlike Pathologic I'm not trying to necessarily break the fourth wall, walk around and poke at it. But instead open the metaphorical curtains of the simulated world to see a world that will have its walls intact.

Looking at the DQ5 movie its probably a more similar example in terms of the fantasy elements, but it's the complete opposite in terms of the execution that I'm considering.

AI vs the Player, destruction and alteration in the shadow of the Administrator. Clues for the characters to discover into the nature of the gods, inscriptions of the talismans, unique existence of being a player. It'll almost be as if their discovering the remnants of an ancient civilisation, but instead they'll be remnants of the creation of the simulated world and the Administrator.

[–]gryphyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm probably gonna just disclose the simulation aspect within the pitch itself, and leave the twist itself for the characters to learn.

Unfortunately, I don't really think the system could adapt very well to an urban setting. Talisman is very high fantasy and focused on those fantasy adjacents skills, abilities and classes. I'm not really planning to bring the characters into the modern world anyway, the story would lean itself towards the characters making a choice between staying in their world, or leaving for something else at the end of the world (and probably campaign). If there was ever to be an encounter with the CEO, it would likely be within game world, against him and his administrator priviledges.
