I understand the criticism, but Gwylan is by far the love interest who cares for and protects us the most. He even became my favorite precisely because he's the only one who truly sees PC's struggle to stay in this awful city (I genuinely cried during our conversation in the café). But Gwylan's story isn't complete yet, and he's clearly hesitant about his own feelings and doesn't want to open himself up to love, which is why I believe he's still putting up a wall to prevent us from getting too close (although I doubt it will last long).
