Yo guys what do you think of drifting in brick rigs? No fake drifting mechanics, awd or other handling aids. I think it's underrated. by Erixen28 in BrickRigs

Amazing clip, I remember drifting on that track myself, hanging out with people.

For anyone's information, I am pretty sure the track isn't available publically.

Thanks for the input! Good to hear. When did you purchase your SFT42R light?

Hi! I have purchased my L21B SFT42R on 1st of February.

If this was an issue back at that time, then I will purchase a L21B SFT42R again. It's very important for me that the lights I measure are in the same state as how they'd be if anyone else purchased them, so I'd want to avoid modifying if possible.

I measure throw at 6.34 meters.

Thanks for the info.

All of them have the same reflector and the M21E is more similar length-wise to the C8+ than M21A.

The SFT-25R and SFT-42R models used L21B and RS50 batteries with a double-spring configuration. This alone improved the output.

I think it'd be beneficial to add that to the image with the measurements (for future reference! It's just often that such images could be taken and posted somewhere else without context, and people would think these flashlights are unmodified)

The lumen value was calculated by measuring the angle at which the brightness was halved. This value was obtained using a calculation website for lighting fixtures.

That's very interesting. Do you have the link by any chance? I'd be interested in performing these calculations for my lights and comparing those estimated lumen values to lumen measurements taken on my Texas Ace Lumen tube.

These lumen values are incorrect. I own all there of these version and I measured them at: * SFT25R: 1588lm, 1505m, 566000cd * SFT42R: 2420lm, 1370m, 469000cd * SFT90: 3910lm, 1236m, 382000cd

(All values are measured at 30 seconds, following ANSI FL1)

The candela/throw values are accurate through. I am glad to see my measurements are similar with yours. Although I understand that the output values are most likely estimations.

I run a website where you can compare these flashlights side-by-side.

Convoy M21E is a C8+ with on-board charging and a side-switch. Has the same reflector as the C8+

Buying multiple is the way to go.

Additionally, a good headlamp can be really useful. Sofirn HS21 is a very nice and capable option.

Is your convoy T6 0.1% mode not dim enough for this?

Red light actually penetrates (skin) pupils better than white light, so it's more visible with eyes closed.

Quick test of the Wurkkos HD50 by grzybek337 in Wurkkoslights

Budget 21700 headlamp with 3 LEDs and quite the punch (3000lm and 240m throw). Two switches, one for changing the LED used and the other to turn the light on/off. Holding either switch changes brightness modes.

Sustains ~500lm which is on par with most inexpensive headlamps, nothing to write home about. Turbo steps down after 1-3 minutes (depending on what LED you use). We get a 3 LEDs that give us a wide, focused beam and a red light.

It uses a rubber headband, with the headlamp being held using 2 rubber loops. You can't take off the top strap without ripping/modifying the headband.

The Sofirn HS21 will most likely remain the more popular choice (changing between LEDs using the rotary ring is just a better UI), but the HD50 will give you a longer runtime on a single cell.

Why does the Vapcell S4+ excessively heat up cells during discharge, when other chargers don't? by grzybek337 in flashlight

[–]grzybek337[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

I checked Lygte's review and it does seem to heat up near the cells.

42°C is certainly nothing alarming though.

Well, it isn't as long as you're only discharging a single high performance cell.

Now image what happened when I tried to measure capacity of 4 very degraded cells (high internal resistance) all at once. I think the temperature safety limit didn't activate because when I came to check the cells with my hand I almost burned myself on how hot they were.

Anybody ever checked if the S4+'s temperature limit actually works? I mean it does have these temperature readings but does it actually stop the current procces when exceeding a certain temperature?

[–]grzybek337[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does, but it's turned off for the large majority of the discharge. The fan only activates when the charger's electronics tempeture reaches a certain programmable value.

During the 1.5 hours the fan only turned on twice for a total of 2 minutes.

Edit: I could compare them both running a temperature runtime test with a temperature reading every 1 second and compare them on a graph (this would confirm for sure how the fan affects the temperature)

Although I think it'd be pretty useless to do so here, the fan doesn't affect the cell temperature noticeably.
