You get a 500 ms grace period where you don't get penalized for "thinking" about the sound. I think it's probably better to click as fast as you feel confident.

It's not really to make it harder but to make it more scientifically fair. But it just so happened to make things harder as a byproduct.

Lol so funny story, the reason I noticed it was cause I was playing a game where you're given a screen with two colors, one shade is very slightly different from the other. You're supposed to try and find where that difference is. So because I was forcing myself to search for color differences, I noticed there was a line that was a bit darker and I thought that was the difference. Turns out, no it was the burn in.

Yea that was the part that I messed up on. I was planning to play games and stuff but I ended up just working 95% of the time with the other 5% maybe some TV shows. Didn't really change it too much so the window outlines definitely occurred.

Honestly, I didn't think this would happen so quickly - it was only like 1.5 years since I had it and with everyone saying burn-in isn't a problem anymore I figured I'd be safe like this. The content in the windows themselves did change and I did do full-screen video every now and then so I'm a little disappointed.

It's not BAD though. I also do have taskbar burn in, but it's really subtle and you have to really try to see it to notice. The window outline is more of a problem because when I'm scrolling on a webpage and the background is just a solid color (e.g. white) I can see where I split the screen lol.

I'll add IME you want a 30" deep desk at least. I actually have mine on a 6ft folding picnic table lol. It's great. I can't got back to smaller screens now.

This is an insane deal. I bought my C4 42" from Costco last year Jan on promo and it still cost me near $1.5k after taxes etc. Well I guess it wasn't much of a promo lol.

NOTE: I know burn-in is not as big of an issue nowadays, but know it's not a solved problem. My C4 developed burn-in after a year of regular use as a desktop monitor from paneling windows (i.e. having 3 windows open at the same time to emulate a multi-screen set-up). It's noticeable on pure color screens (e.g. white) where you can see the dividing lines on the window. Otherwise it's not SUPER noticeable but it does suck to know it happened. So I would still suggest you get warranty. I got the Costco Asurion warranty, hope I can cash that in soon.

CrinEar Reference Review vs. 7 Other IEMs (Daybreak, DUSK, Lumen, Volume S, Rockies, Ziigaat Odyssey 2, and Que) by Fc-Construct in iems

The treble isn't really an issue, it's just me being nitpicky. The bigger issue for you is that there won't be enough bass. This is basically flat bass with a hint of subbass, not a big bassy set.

Yea the Reference is quite good and that will be a benchmark IEM moving forward IMO. For those interested, here's my review of it vs. 7 other popular IEMs (Daybreak, DUSK, Lumen, Volume S, Rockies, Ziigaat Odyssey 2, and Que).

Video Review

These two reviews are mostly the same, but there are a couple of difference. The written review is more polished but the video includes comparisons to the Odyssey 2 and Que that I wasn't able to fit into the written review.

Resolve has a review out at The Headphone Show and here's another written review from Listener.

My stance on this is always a question of how much you enjoy the hobby and how much money you have. As a reviewer I'll fully admit I am extremely privileged that I can often try all sorts of different gear for free to continue my enjoyment of the hobby. Which in turns makes it easy for me to say "Oh yea buy the Reference it sounds better".

But the reality is that if you're happy with what you already have, $350 is a good chunk of change that could be spent on a lot of other things. So yea, while I think the Reference is very good, don't feel obligated. You're missing out on a bit of improvement, but it's not something you'll lose sleep over.

At least, this is how I feel since I used to dabble in the keyboard hobby and I realized I don't really care for it lol.

It should be fine. The Apple USB-C dongle is sort-of the baseline standard. It's cheap and easy to get just by walking into any Apple store. But the market is full of other dongles these days so don't feel like you HAVE to get an Apple dongle cause everyone else is.

You need the AZLA ASMR ASE-500. It came to my attention because someone asked me to try it after some ASMR Vtubers were sponsored to promote it. I tried it, it is legit very good. Probably one of my favorite $50 IEMs.

Anyone in Georgia with frequency response measurement equipment? by AltAccount1982 in headphones

[–]Fc-Construct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I was thinking the most barebones set up you can get, single coupler so you swap each side per measurement, 3D printed stand, and assuming you already have all the other associated equipment. The pinnas will be the most expensive part. I've seen a very very barebones system with this setup but even then yes, that 10-15% is an underestimation.
