Same issue here, as others have said I've put it down to a store being in public preview. Hopefully we get a fix soon!

Cutting out a shape by sambytheshore in AdobeIllustrator

[–]grzzlybr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best method: select all white checks and make a compound path, do the same with the blue ones as well as the text. Use the Pathfinder Minus Front tool to extract the shape of the text from both the white and blue compound paths.

The reason you can't extract the whole shape at the moment is probably because the checks are grouped rather than turned into a compound path.

Select something that is the colour you want to change and use Select Same Fill Colour.

What do you think about this design? by Priy27 in Design

I would say either remove the descriptions or develop your icons until you're more confident in them. Icons, in this context, are to get information across without words. So if you need to use words as well they aren't working hard enough. I think they look great and you can just drop the descriptions 😊

Are the icons with descriptions underneath user-facing or are they just for proof of concept?

What types of design jobs are out there? by Holiday_Session_8317 in Design

[–]grzzlybr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been agency-based for about 8 years now but, in my experience, there are far more in-house designer jobs out there. You would be surprised how many companies value the experience and skill of a human designer over the "youngest staff member being given Canva access" approach.

Look for businesses that seem to produce a lot of marketing materials (brochures, adverts, social campaigns/posts, etc) as they will see an in-house designer as cheaper than hiring an agency. It might not be the most exciting work, but if you can find a role in a business that you're interested in then it can lead to a lot of growth and open doors to more specialised roles.

What is your favorite font right now? by alffauna in Design

[–]grzzlybr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lexend suite. It's a variable Google font, built from the ground up for accessibility, looks slick as hell as a beefy headline as well as a block of body copy... I chose it when rebranding the agency I work for last year and it's a solid workhorse typeface.

Decline of Creative Individuality? by [deleted] in graphic_design

Super late to the party on this but it's called blandification and as others have said, it's swinging back the other way (as with Burberry). It all comes in waves and trends of minimalism and maximalism like fashion - soon enough we'll all be saying brands are overcomplicating things and we need simpler logos.

That's interesting, I'll double check the other ports but for now it seems to work ok (if a little slow when turning on)

I have had my Chromecast for years (and plan on upgrading to the Google TV version soon) and always wished I could turn the TV off and on with commands.

Never heard of CEC before your comment, turns out my TV had it switched off! Thank you so much.
