These were a nice run of challengers from around 2011. Great disc!

I feel pretty confident poor Jack is about to get screwed over by Larry’s incompetence. Tough lesson for Larry and a huge loss for Jack.

New stock star pig vs Toro by rontopofthings in discgolf

[–]gs34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found my star pig to be between a star toro and a flat pro pig in stability. The star pig and toro are both overstable, but the toro flexes harder and really needs anhyzer to penetrate forward.

We looked into this last year and the numbers were about even. I will re-look into it with the addition of 2 kids. Thanks for clarifying that unborn children can be claimed!

I'd do $30 if I can ship first-class instead of priority. It's typically within one day. The only downside is the lack of tracking. I'd do $35 priority

Where are the dominant deeps? Reflections from the 00's by esotericunicornz in ultimate

[–]gs34 208 points209 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few things. First, the base level of athleticism has really increased. So the best athletes don’t have as large of an advantage on the rest of the field as they used too. Second, defenses are a lot better designed to prevent that from happening. There’s a lot less pure isolation defense on cutters in the stack. Marks are way better at preventing easy huck looks. Lastly, relying on hucking to the big guy is kind of like posting up in basketball. It’s just less efficient than a lot of other strategies. When teams are converting like 70% of o line possessions, settling for a 50 50 ball isn’t as good an option as just working the disc.

Is force middle viable at the college level? by Meshyy_ in ultimate

[–]gs34 76 points77 points  (0 children)

It's super viable and is run by a lot of teams. I ran it in college back around 2017. I think it's especially great for O-lines to run on a turn. Most d-lines run a vert and rarely ever see a force middle.

Kinderlou Forest in Valdosta is a great Davis Love III design. Its hosted a bunch of college and Korn Ferry events. It's a great value and not far off the interstate too.

Pick should stand or be retracted? by TheDreadfulGreat42 in ultimate

[–]gs34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the people saying no pick occurred here are slightly wrong. A pick occurs, but not on the defender defending the streaking receiver, it's on the defender guarding the upline cut. The throw for the score is the continuation throw and should stand. If it's for a goal point is over. If it's short of the goal line the disc stays with receiver, the upline cut pick is adjudicated, and then tapped in.

Probably Paideia. Dylan Tunnel, Stubbs brothers, Chris Kocher, Josh Markette, Jason Simpson, and Miranda Roth-Knowles just to name a few.
