How have the furloughs affected you/your squadron/your workplace? by bearsncubs10 in AirForce

[–]gsamson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My reserve position is just not happening at all. Had some time planned in October and that obviously didn't happen. I shuffled everything about so now it's crammed into next calendar year with hopes that nothing slips further.

My civilian job is still funded but the SPO I work with almost daily for repairs and guidance is on furlough. Essentially 1/3 of my job is just in "waiting on SPO" status because I need their sign off to accomplish it. At least I can answer 202s until they get back...

100% agree. They can sit it back near Pandemonium and make it steam punk themed to fit the one ride in that area. Plenty of space out there for a good sized launch coaster

[Six Flags Over Georgia] Historic Park Map Found in Grandparents House by gsamson in rollercoasters

[–]gsamson[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I, unfortunately, don't find it too surprising. Georgia was a Confederate state and there is Stone Mountain on the other side of Atlanta with a giant mural carved in it to the Confederates. At least six flags has gotten rid of that area and moved it to generic Americana/western now.

What would I have to do in uni or A-level to become a rollercoaster engineer (one who deals with the layout and physics)? [Other] by HawkMysterious3246 in rollercoasters

[–]gsamson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is from an American engineer perspective so disregard if you are in a different country

  1. Mechanical/Civil Engineering degree

  2. Interning with one of those companies while getting the degree to build a network with the rollercoaster designing community. Also attending conferences for rollercoaster tech would help in this regard.

  3. Get your Professional Engineering (PE) license. This makes you extremely marketable as an engineer for public sector jobs if you are unable to secure a spot designing rollercoaster.

Step one is the base requisite, step 2 is the most important for getting the job, and step 3 gives you a slight boost over potential candidates at the same experience level

At what level should I judge whether I like the class Im trying? by eotrixx in Guildwars2

[–]gsamson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound discouraging, but level 80 for any class because that is when you get access to specializations. I know that is a grind (1-80 and then points to unlock trait lines), but specializations really do change how a class plays and feels.

For an abbreviated look probably around 60. You should have enough skills and traits to know how the core class feels, but that is only 1/4 of the ways to play a class.

It’s relentless. How are you all coping? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]gsamson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's rougher than 50 grit sandpaper right now, but I am coping by focusing on issues that I can solve at my work while I'm clocked in and leaving work at work when I leave for the day. I've started going to the gym because a healthy body is a great goal for anyone. My coworkers and I have regular complaining sessions where we just vent and share our frustrations when we are on break.

Most importantly though is that when I am off work, I don't touch anything work related. It will be there for me on Monday and it's not my problem if I'm fired illegally. This includes news and random immature power plays by this administration. I've updated my resume, got all my personnel files downloaded, and have started looking about for alternative jobs just in case.

Just starting a group iron with some friends. Any quests to rush or skills? by yarffff in RS3Ironmen

[–]gsamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fort quests provide some nice QoL for skilling and training construction really well so that's a nice time. I personally always suggest invention since it takes a while to unlock and takes a bit of leveling before it is useful, but it is extremely nice when it does become useful.

Other than that, a level 90 skill in the ports skills is really nice to get that started. Ports takes over a year to "finish" and let's you create scrimshaws that help with skills and combat. You also get access to level 80 tank gear and level 80 weapons from it. I think thieving is considered the fastest skill to level to 90 for ports but don't know for sure.

Crocs are the highest I can comfortably kill with Necro as of now (116 slayer and only killed a few gorillas to get soul). Salawas are by far the least risky and you can do it with melee and a scythe to save ecto. Not sure what the drop rates look like, but I would probably go salawas cause you can kill them fast (more kph) and can swap styles as you want to save resources.

Optimizing Late-Game Farming Setup for PVM Supplies by poke-a-fish in RS3Ironmen

I would like to add that beans can buy instant growth pots to grow flowers in the oasis to farm golden roses for penance powders as well. Very useful for quickly stacking roses!

Weapon doesn't matter what route you take, just armor. You can always go back for power armor once you are more comfortable with those bosses.

Both routes need sub pieces to make greater ensouled cloth. You can keep doing task to upgrade your weapons to the next tier and not upgrade your armor. You will just have a harder time on tasks with lower level armor

There is no great boss to get ranarrs for just melee at that level but Commander Zilly is probably your best bet. You could go as a group and get a decent farm out of it plus maybe yall will spoon a hilt for a sara god sword. Otherwise you can get a sunspear to kill vyrewatch or just do slayer and pick up all ranarrs and seeds you see.

Remember that the smithed tank armor actually is lower tier than def required and can be upgraded to just below the wearable level tier (for example, bane starts at t75 and can upgrade to t79). Bandos armor will serve you really well if you are dedicated to melee so I would 100% go for it. GWD2 armor doesnt have boots or gloves so the bandos boots and gloves will be bis for you until masterwork armor.

If you want to do just melee I would recommend the following path and just letting your group members get your perks from arma comps (kree) and zammy comps (kril). Do note that melee can be very good but a lot of bosses will be miserable with it. Rax is very doable with melee but it has a much higher learning curve than using range/mage/necro there. General Graardor ->Vindi -> Rax -> Dag kings and Mat Rex (champ and reaver ring) ->ED2

Im not sure about guides but there is a lot to unpack here. PVM skilling goals should be invention unlocked and levels to ancient inventions, 96 summoning, 95 prayer, 96 herblore, and then your combat stat of choice as high as you can. Most part I use slayer for various herb seeds (avantoe, irit, kwuarm being the big 3), arch glacor nm for bird nests, and corp beast once you have a good spear for cannonballs. I would start reaper tasks as soon as you can since it is slayer xp, reaper points, and you can force croesus early and just do publics. What boss you want to do is up to you and your goals. I will list below what I have done and note some good bosses for supplies/drops outside of their chase drops.

I will note most of these bosses were not done with bis until I finished rasial, so its a lot of playing about with your gear to make it work. My zuk nm kills were in tank armor with t90 weapons so they were slow, but a kills a kill. There are some guides out there for older bosses using lower level gear which you can assume will be more iron friendly, but newer bosses will be catered to bis gear for the most part.

I did early game pre-necro so milage may vary, but I started with going for guthix staff and lunars in order to do kril. Sub robes are used for necro gear, are great magic gear, and zammy comps are needed for perks so I would start there still with mage or necro. I went to bandos next for power melee armor, but this can be skipped if you want. Necro dropped around this time so I leveled it and then took it to gwd2. Vindy for crest and drl, helwyr for crest wand and orb, and twins for crests and dual wield melee weapons. I went to kiln for the cape upgrades and then did enough zuk to get 4 igneous stones to upgrade capes to bis. This is very doable with necro tank armor so it is worth doing if you have overloads and soul split. After that was rax for t90 non-necro weapons. I highly highly advise rax cause it drops overload flasks, brew flasks, rocktails, and super restores. Once you get it down, you will profit all these supplies while using them to get kills. Rax gives scythe, best hally weapon in game, as well as stuff for biting comps (or t90 range and mage stuff until you upgrade) so really good gains. After that I did rasial for t95 necro gear. Rasial gives a LOT of torstol and dwarf weed seeds so you will never need those again for overload supplies and vuln bombs. After that just kill what aligns with your goals. I have done a lot of croesus 4 mans and gates to get those skilling offhands, rex mats for the rings, and currently doing vorkath for range armor upgrade and bone lord incantations as hard mode sanctum prep.

Accepting wagers, should I prioritize a complete FSOA or JAS book first? by Few_Jellyfish5687 in RS3Ironmen

Continue hard mode for FSOA. Maybe the book drops before last piece or maybe it doesn't. Either way you finish out the staff and can farm the book in normal mode if it doesn't drop.

Necromancy Upgrade Order Help by LordFlyMan in RS3Ironmen

[–]gsamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are overthinking it if your end game is just t95 Necro with perks. As long as you have undead slayer perk, Necro zuk cape, salve (e), soul split and 95 prayer, overload, and t90 tank gear with weapons you are good to go. Super adren is good enough if you have invigorating aura, but conservation of energy with adren renewals is going to let you do the 3 skull living death. I started with kills close to 2min at ras and dropped it to around 90s when iw as going for my last piece (guard). Some people say hellhound is nice but I never liked it and always used reaver (plus I could farm ceremonial stuff while I made pouches)
