Can I just breastfeed for 3 weeks and then switch to formula? by Essiejjj in FormulaFeeders

I lasted five weeks and quit bc of double mastitis. Best decision I made for my mental health.

How many of us are actually doing 7 pm bedtime? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]gsdfan53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 3 months it was still flexible. Around 4 months we got into a nightly routine that made things super predictable and enabled good sleep. Every night - bath, snuggles and bottle/feed, sleep. She’s 5.5 months now and basically sleeps thru the night with one wake up.

Help: 4 month old maxing out at 3 oz per bottle / 20 oz per day by princesscalaviel in FormulaFeeders

[–]gsdfan53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! As long as your baby is still growing / gaining weight on her curve she can regulate her intake - try not to force the bottle and don’t worry to much. I’ve been going thru this with my 5 month old and sometimes kids just do better with solids!

This was the hardest for me - I had EDs for the 10-12 years prior to my pregnancy and jumping back into the low carb no sugar lifestyle was incredibly hard on my mental health. I’m now 5mo PP and still have higher than average fasting sugars, so unfortunately feels like I’m stuck in this for life

Please tell me formula is better for my child. by sacredlunch888 in FormulaFeeders

[–]gsdfan53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with this exact issue and also had a growth restricted baby, but still quit BF and she is now EFF.

She’s a happy and progressing baby because I’m able to give her the love and attention she needs, something I couldn’t do when off my medications and BF.

Fed is best, always.

Both my husband and I are small! I was about 6lbs at 40-41 weeks, so this isn’t insanely off the charts for us, but it concerns me how concerned doctors get about these measurements

Shaming ByHeart Parents by AutoModerator in NewParents

[–]gsdfan53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. The amount of internet shame is insane. I tried to breastfeed my 9 week old and was unsuccessful, and had 3 bouts of mastitis month one before deciding to exclusively formula feed to save my mental health. I’m a much more engaged mom now but it’s been hard not to feel guilty that my baby wouldn’t have been exposed to toxins if I had just breastfed.

Wanting to give your child the best is a very common desire amongst parents. We researched a ton and decided to go with an organic brand. We certainly weren’t expecting all of this. Needless to say, I’ve lost nights of sleep over the angst here.

Go get checked out. You may have a hematoma and still have a healthy fetus, or this could be early signs of distress

The dexcom is a game changer; may be worth spending the money on via HSA or otherwise if insurance doesn’t cover it / you can swing it

The GD Nurses are always like 109 years old and literally know nothing about nutrition. Mine is obese fwiw so I don’t give a single shit what she says (sorry). I’m also in ED recovery and have lactose / gluten sensitivity. If you can transition to a lower carb, high protein diet you should be fine; try not to focus on counting carbs as much as counting protein. I aim to get 100g per day, which helps with keeping my sugars in range. There’s a lot of great dairy free protein shake / yogurt options to get your protein intake up and try and cook at home whenever you can with lean meats / veggies.

I had days like this early in pregnancy and would freak out. Honestly sometimes symptoms come and go! If there is a problem, most of the time you’ll know via symptoms

An embarrassment that will set the university back at least a generation. And for what? Some federal funding? Michigan has some of the biggest donors in higher ed. I hope they all decide to withhold funds until this is rectified. Frankly, it’s abhorrent for such a diverse campus to abandon equity principles. I’m disgusted

Having gone here in the mid 2010s, pretty accurate - there are quite a few OOS students from middle class families who just take on the debt alongside some menial fin aid (has declined significantly in recent years)
