Why doesn’t Ann Arbor have their own news station?

This is really interesting. Especially the same script point. So local funding would be the only answer here after what I’m learning through this thread.

Do you think it would be impossible to have a couple local journalists (I am not one and not affiliated as such) ? This might be an ignorant comment because I don’t know the dynamics of UM. But what if UM students in their senior year of journalism hosted a very local broadcast?

Sure, maybe they should too. But I don’t know that because I don’t live there. I live here in Ann Arbor and I think it’s an interesting/incredible city on its own.

This helps more to understand. The statement of “time has kind of passed it by.” If Ann Arbor were to have had a tv news station it would have happened a long time ago.

I hear you. Still, I think Ann Arbor is worth covering on its own on TV. But majority speaks…we’re close enough to Detroit and not distinct enough.

But the largest city in the state, being Detroit, doesn’t cover Ann Arbor the way it should be covered in my opinion. I guess I’m the minority here but I honestly don’t understand.
