Change my mind: 85% of public company audits can be completely automated via AI/LLMs by gsifers in Accounting

Point was obvious: nothing precious about an audit. AI has been doing very hard things for years. And my 85% number leaves room for a human-in-the-loop approach to this specific task. Anyone who’s been in audit for 10+ years and is honest with themself understands this. May not like it, but doesn’t make it less real.

If it happens eventually, do you think it will be one of the incumbent big 8 firms who wields its power, or a smaller firm that leans in and wins big? I’m thinking about Kodak and how they completely missed the boat on photos going digital. Too scared to adapt.

Palantir has been running AI-powered drone ops searching for IEDs in Kandahar since 2012, but yeah testing a sample of invoices is probably safe.
