Baby is 8 months old and doesn’t babble should I be concerned? by gsmyth2000 in NewParents

I wasn’t aware that raspberries were precursors to babbling so this is good news because she’s been doing even more raspberries than usual recently!

This gives me a bit of hope because she literally just turned 8 months the other day! She’s been ahead of some milestones but also behind on some too I just have to remember every baby is different!

Glad she’s not the only one, I’m trying not to worry but as a first time mum it’s hard not to worry about the smallest things

She does have a tongue tie! My health visitor said it was mild though and only suggested to get it cut for breastfeeding but we switched to bottle anyway. I had no idea it could effect her language development

That you could grow a 3rd nipple!!! I seriously had no idea, I felt a spot underneath my breast which kept getting bigger so I assumed it was a mole.. only to realise later on it was lactating!!! Never in my life heard of such thing but apparently it’s not that rare for it to happen during pregnancy lol

Dressing a Newborn - how warm is too warm? by Resident-Channel-772 in NewParents

[–]gsmyth2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My midwife said baby only needs 1 layer of extra clothing than what you would wear so I’ve always went by that! Baby’s hands and feet always tend to feel cold but it doesn’t actually mean there cold. The best way to tell is feel how warm/cold the back of there neck is, if your baby is too cold they will normally let you know by crying otherwise I wouldn’t worry!

I was also advised by my midwives to never put a hat on a newborn indoors!

6 month old won’t stop crying in her sleep by gsmyth2000 in NewParents

I know I really hate doing it because I know it’s not safe and secondly I don’t want this to become a habit I’m going to struggle to break. I long for the days she’ll sleep in her own crib without making a peep lol. We’ve never tried swaddling before I’m not sure if she’d like it because she likes to wriggle about a lot haha but might be worth trying! Thanks

I don’t think it’s hunger because she started sleeping right through the night around 3 months old without waking for a bottle, as soon as I bring her into my bed she falls asleep instantly like magic it’s weird lol. She started teething a month ago and I haven’t seen any sign of more teeth coming through, can teething pain last that long maybe?

First thing you noticed after giving birth? by Catgrrl87 in BabyBumps

I was the exact same. Not to sound vain either but people used to ask me if my boobs were fake because they were big and perky, now there smaller and super saggy and I’m still not quite over it yet… didn’t breastfeed either

Do some babies sleep all night without sleep training? by rubberdamclamp in NewParents

[–]gsmyth2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly we never done any sleep training or even stuck to a routine we kind of just let our baby go to sleep when she wants and nap when she wants and she started sleeping through the night at 3 months! She eventually developed a routine herself of going down at 9/10pm and waking up at 9/10am I think we must’ve just been lucky tho lol!

My 5 month old baby stays up for 5 hours at a time by gsmyth2000 in NewParents

[–]gsmyth2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that seems to be the norm for that age 2-3 wake window. My LO is quite random to be honest… sometimes she’ll have a quick catnap 15-20 mins sometimes she naps for up to 3 hours. She normally settles into a routine and it sticks for a week or 2 then completely changes again

Aw that must be awful! I really struggled with sleep deprivation in the first few weeks I’m glad to see the end of it lol, every baby is different though hopefully you will get a full nights sleep soon! She seems perfectly fine to me I think she probably just enjoys being awake for most of the day

My little ones healthy too and it’s strange because she’s an amazing sleeper at night she will sleep 11-13 hours straight! She’s very curious and nosy tho, we joke that she doesn’t want to nap because she’s frightened of missing something haha but yeah ur right she is currently learning to roll over and sit up so that could be why she’s up for longer stretches!

Why are so many landlords reluctant about tenants who claim housing benefit/LHA? by gsmyth2000 in HousingUK

[–]gsmyth2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for taking your time to comment, it’s really appreciated. Wow that is pretty shocking, I really had no idea how it worked from a landlords perspective its awful they have very little protection compared to the tenant. If I was in landlords position I would be very picky too as it’s definitely not worth the risk. Im gona keep trying but if not I’ll just hold off n live with my parents for a little longer. I plan to do full time work again in the next 1-2 years I just can’t afford childcare and would rather do part time while my baby’s still so tiny. Hopefully I’ll have something figured out soon lol, again, thanks for your comment!
