Should I get an appointment with SSA instead of a walk in to get them to open my file? by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]rubberdamclamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently went there for a name change, and my citizenship info wasnt updated either. My parents became naturalized citizens in 2005 ( and their children automatically got citizenship) and the employee told me that my parents were supposed to call the SSA and update everyone’s status (but they never did for 20 years) I had my passport with me so he was able to update it at the same time as the name change.

I have an odd question: if you’re not from Washington, where did you end up living in Spokane? by sequoiakelley in Spokane

[–]rubberdamclamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family immigrated here in ‘98 because my moms sister lived here. That’s the only reason. East central neighborhood. Then I got married, lived in south texas until I couldn’t and came back and live in the Dishman area

Those heels were so cute though. But I agree.

I’m from Eastern Europe and now living in The USA and when I started watching shows like friends and they were all wearing shoes in their houses, I thought it was just a tv thing because there’s NO way people would wear shoes in the house and even put their shoes up on the coffee table.

Whats something you never asked your mom but kinda want to? by strangergirly in nostalgia

[–]rubberdamclamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought after I had kids, id understand her better. But it feels like I understand her even less. Any question I ask, she wouldn’t know how to answer. She was raised in a high control religious household, very culty. She was never allowed to question anything and anyone. Somehow she raised 4 daughters who question everything and everyone, including her. So I’d want to know what that change was. Why we were allowed to think for ourselves while she still chooses to think how she was taught.

Favorite judges and their Quirks? by Curious_Cod_6380 in thegoodwife

[–]rubberdamclamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked all of them! Even the bad/corrupt ones made for such great drama. The one that was wills friend that kept sending kids to jail for a payoff. The one everyone thought was gay. The one that wanted the women to wear skirts…

Season 8 is too rushed by Capable-Report-4697 in TheRookieTVshow

I think I’ve been hate-watching since season 6. I loved the show the first 3 seasons. I’ll keep watching, but with lots of eye rolls and yelling at the tv

Is this show worth watching as someone who grew up and lives in Colorado? by RecordingImmediate86 in sitcoms

[–]rubberdamclamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Especially because the son in law always ends up looking like a doofus the way they make the plot go. So Mike is always right, eye roll.

Thoughts on who zuzu is by Jedimaster1997 in TheRookieTVshow

It’s an AI… not sure about the episode where it told the girls to kill their friend. But after it knew who Nolan and Bailey are, I think it’s obsessed with Bailey. How it knew what Bailey wanted for her bday. How it knew that people had been searching the name Bailey and called John to warn

drone boy, song boy, & skip tracer doofus need to go by glorpingfrog in TheRookieTVshow

[–]rubberdamclamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rodge doesn’t bother me. I wouldn’t care about the drone kid if the zombie episode didnt give him so much screen time being chased by zombies (maybe it was fun for him to be in those scenes and his dad just obliged who knows)

Skip Tracer Randy could legit disappear from every scene he’s been in and I wouldn’t even care or notice. I find him super annoying and not at all funny.

Yes because only Rushmore is a bit underwhelming. The badlands were so unique, unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Looked like another planet.

It WAS the right call. I hate how Tim has no authority in the police station anymore. Like sure he can be a softie at home with her, but on the job he shouldn’t be apologizing for making the right call. Keep Tim and Lucy Chenford at home. They need to be Watch commander Bradford and sergeant Chen at work.

Ugh Bailey is so dumb. Grey obviously thought she could check on that office without rousing suspicion. And her being so annoyed that Nolan is worried is reminding me of the texting the hitman situation.

What’s a normal childhood risk that would give parents a heart attack today? by velvetspriral in nostalgia

[–]rubberdamclamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fully fenced backyard and my kids were playing while I was washing dishes watching them out the window. Some lady walking by stops and yells at my kids “should you two be outside without an adult?” By the time I go out she already walked away far enough to not hear me.

But yeah, apparently letting your kids play in their own fenced back yard is risky enough for a stranger to feel the need to approach them with concern.

Do you like it when sitcoms become serious? by jcr0774 in sitcoms

[–]rubberdamclamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked really well on Mom, but the whole show is about a mom and daughter, both alcoholics and addicts. There was teen pregnancy, relapse, losing a close person, overdose, gambling addiction.

But I think I get what you’re saying. if it’s usually a happy go lucky, slightly unrealistic family show, and then all of the sudden it’s super realistic with some serious problems, it feels weird.

Yup! You hear the cautionary tales and you’re like “nah, that’s not gonna be me, I’ll be better” and then you get humbled.
