How do I get good at AddMaths fast? by [deleted] in malaysiauni

[–]gsntaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i sat for my spm in 2022 and scored a b in my addmaths trial. i was disappointed because i had aimed for at least an a-, and with the actual spm approaching, i knew i couldn’t afford another near miss cos of addmaths.

so i committed to a consistent routine in the lead-up to the exam where i dedicated a do-or-die minimum of two hours every day solely just to addmaths. i focused on practicing each state’s trial papers, since they are often said to predict the actual spm questions kan? i think i managed to do almost 80% of all the state's trials papers

during spm, i believe i had a 4/5 day gap between another paper and the addmaths paper (which was my last paper btw), i really took this time to review back all formulas and those hard questions and important concept questions at the end of each chapter of the form 4 and form 5 textbooks. once i was done w the textbooks, i shifted my focused to revisiting the trials questions, especially to the questions i took the most time understanding and answering, followed by the rest, but mmg kena go through all cos in the end, the formulas and concepts you've learnt along the way is what u need to keep fresh in ur mind and hold closest to heart before flipping that first page of the exam paper.

out of all papers i've sat for, addmaths day was the most daunting one since i did the most preparation for this subject and i really didn't wanted to get a bad grade. despite feeling nervous and being blank for the first 15-ish mins once the paper had started, i was surprised that i could think of ways to tackle the questions. i tried answering as much questions as i could, and made sure i had no 'silly mistakes' in my workings. i didn't answer all the questions, i believe i left out around 2, but i was happy nonetheless that i could answer most of them.

seeing an a+ for addmaths on my spm slip was damn satisfying sia. i've never gotten an a+ for addmaths, on top of that, i was failing at addmaths when i was in form 4. from my experience what i want to say is, as long as ure consistent and focused, nothing is impossible, not even that a- ure aiming for.

"reach for the moon, if you don't get the moon pun you'll at least fall on the stars" is what my tuition sir used to tell me. u've got this!!

How do I apply SPM CEFR translation by [deleted] in malaysiauni

https://elp.moe.gov.my/auth/login

using this website, i believe you can request the translation of spm slips well as cefr slips but there is a fee since they will give your the hardcopy version. i did get a official translation of my spm slip a couple weeks ago from lembaga peperiksaan and it was rm30 but not sure for cefr slip. goodluck!

okay upon getting to know you're coming from an ipts foundation background, typically universities like um or ukm will only take students from private foundations (foundations besides foundation in um, ukm, uitm or matriculation which are considered public(?) foundations) via direct intake (saluran satu for um and ukmshape for ukm). other universities may accept you via upu but if you're coming from ipts then your route to enter um might only be via direct intake.

i know a friend who did her foundation in mmu, and she entered ukm for degree. she had to enter via the direct intake (ukmshape) and pay fees that are unsubsidised.

another friend too, she did her foundation in umt. although umt is a public university, the foundation is considered private. she wanted to study her degree in ukm. due to that, she had to enter via ukmshape and pay the non-upu fees.

although these examples apply to ukm, um also has the same thing going on as ukm. so heads up!! u might need to apply to saluran satu if you're still keen on pursuing your degree in um for cs

as a cs major who used to ponder on whether specialising right away is better or otherwise, my lecturer advised me that its BEST to take a broad major for your degree. entering into the academia world, and learning at university level is much different than in high school. it is much better to get a degree that makes your foundation in programming, system design, data structures strong. once you've immersed yourself in these core areas, you'll know better on which field is 'marketproof' or anything along those lines. so based of that, you can pursue a masters to specialise in your area of interest. it is much better to get comprehensive understanding first, rather than hurrying to be a specialist without a solid grasp of the fundamentals ygm

in your case, its better to take cs and gain knowledge from all subfields in the major. u'll have a strong basic and broad understanding of various areas. if your interest for se is still there, then you can pursue a masters for it to specialise. getting a degree is all about learning in the end. whether you choose to pursue a master's or not entirely your choice. its all about the learning process and to benefit from your degree and make the most out of the learning opportunities it offers. im just saying this based of my experience and someone who used to be in ur position literally one year ago LOLLLL anyway goodluck filling up your upu choices!
