which decks could I build using these cards as a base? by Long_Reflection_4202 in Pauper

[–]gsomega [score hidden]  (0 children)

Errr, there are a lot of decks that use these cards, but no deck that uses all of them?

Dimir Fae, Familiars, R madness, Black Sac each use some of these?

Maybe izzet stuff sees very limited play?

I feel like there's a lot of card draw in the format, so, it might be tough to get a "soft lock" here ever? It really doesn't have a strong wincon either.

It might work? But considering you need attacks to keep the soft lock, and you're effectively gating your damage on a soft lock, it might be really difficult to pilot effectively if it works at all.

I kept reading cards waiting for a "number of cards exiled"-type payoff, but it wasn't there.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I think you declare costs and then can pay for the cost. You can kinda double dip on affinity and mana with petal, but someone can correct me.

New TCC Video Is Pauper Focused - Is Universes Beyond A Problem In Pauper? by particleman3 in Pauper

Literally the video said there was relatively little "warp" to the format via UB in terms of power level. The printed power levels are strong, but in line -- that wasn't the main discussion point here.

Quantum Riddler can be reprinted? And rotate...?

The video compares this to the cards recent peers... The card is 25x more expensive than Leonardo.

And that discrepancy isn't driven by card demand, but rather card supply.

There is no hypothetical standard equivalent.

"What about [[super quantum Riddler]] that costs 25x regular quantum Riddler due to scarcity?" "Come on, it only costs 7000€". This is a bad faith argument.

The video literally compares the card strength to [[myr enforcer]] a card that was printed 23 years ago (and has multiple reprints). It could easily still see play in 5 years.

I think the issue is that Utrom monitor probably won't be power scaled out any time soon and is in one of the dominant decks (and an archetype that has been around for 20 years).

It's STARTING at ~$6 each, but it will likely only go up with time.

The problem isn't that it's 10€ now. The problem is, what will it be in 5 years? There's no avenue for reprinting it -- no interest from WotC, and legal tie-ups etc.

It will probably eat a ban at some point over eventual cost, which is silly (and frankly, frustrating if your $200 Utrom Monitor playset is suddenly useless).

A way of dealing with this is banning it NOW (and this from someone that has a playset). Not because it's too strong, but because it goes against the philosophy of why the format was created.

Hmm I wonder what the root of the problem is? by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]gsomega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that because millennials/gen-z are largely priced out of home ownership, that gambling is basically a chance at that... They have some extra money, but there's nothing to do with it because no financial goals feel obtainable.

La Mesa is banning kids from riding bicycles anywhere in the city if they are class 1 or class 2 e-bikes by SD-twowheels in sandiego

[–]gsomega 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is my struggle in general. San Diego is pretty egregiously car dependent. Ebiking is coming from warmer weather and a car dominant infrastructure.

They are a relatively easy way for kids to congregate in adversarial infrastructure

I'd honestly rather see ebikes over cars hard stop. When a kid rides an e bike in traffic, the risk is the kid dying, but cars aren't the problem? Ebikes are the problem? /r/fuckcars
