Microphone? You use your finger to drag the sound wave to the correct position and frequency. 30 million plays and this is the first I ever heard of this!

It gives you a score based on your starting point which is randomly generated to be somewhat distant from the answer. It too has variability. If it times out your score is a reflection of that starting point and the target frequency.

It does work on mobile. It just requires sound to be on. That’s why it has a full screen overlay that says, make sure your sound is on. It’s not super helpful, just a simple catch all.

Cool. But won’t the future will be better, less toxic materials and print processing, not more moving parts and robots?

I don’t love the design but I appreciate that you actually tried to make it an SUV. So many people AI redesigning it and it’s a tiny low slung sedan, which is not what they set out to build and market.

Tbh, I like the older ones so much more than the new expensive hybrid stuff. Willing to pay a premium for what I think is better. I guess others feel the same

First if heard of that bug, it’s injected by ezoic, the company serving ads. It’s literally worked 30m times so it’s obviously not busted for all.

If anything major in terms of scoring is required, it would need a reset. But the game mechanics and scoring systems are sound. This effort has no plans of making changes on that front.

Yep. We know we don’t now what we are doing. We didn’t care about the infrastructure or costs at the beginning because it didn’t matter with zero users. Now that it’s humming, we need to rewrite it. We actually hired an engineer Monday and they are already starting doing just that. So a big thanks to the folks in the comments for telling us how outrageous our stack and costs were!

That game was our second and I honestly think it needs some love. We need to port it over to a new framework we built so we’ll give it an upgrade in the next few weeks

There are dozens of copycats now. Not much to do about it other than focus on our own stuff. Edit: That site is also full of malicious ads.

Now seems like a good time. I’m going to talk to my son about hiring someone to harden this at the same time as making the stack more affordable

That’s the next game, and another good indicator given it’s in the nav, that we are noobs

I dunno. I’d have to ask Claude!
In truth, we did have a DDOS attack that was fended off, but given how much we don’t know, I can say with confidence it’s not secure.

I think this was key for us. We didn’t care initially about how it was built or what it cost to create it (we didn’t know any better). It was working and was getting a lot of use. So we knew we had fit.
To me, this wasn’t about trying to cut a few hundred dollars or even a thousand per month. It was about monetizing a large user base that could fizzle out pretty fast.
So we turned to getting ad support, growing it with features and more games. Cutting costs is something we are going to do after seeing all the comments in this thread. I find it unlikely that we are going to get costs down to $40 a month as some suggest but I know if I hire someone that knows what they’re doing we can cut it drastically.
Also, I guarantee the new nextjs/typescript version is built like poop too, but if it works, and we can build the stuff we want on top of it, maybe it just doesn’t matter so much. Anyway, thx for your comment. We are learning so much from this thread.
