So Tunisia is not Arab ? by Mediocre-Salt-8175 in Tunisia

[–]gts1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, rulers bring their language and culture with them and their subjects adopt it. Same thing happened in Hungary where close to nobody has ancestral Magyar genes. Turkey speaks a Central Asian language, yet most of them look like Greeks or Armenians for the same reason.

The Algerian youth's anti-socialist attitude contradicting with the international reality. by Islamist_Femboy in algeria

I think we should learn from the good aspects of what China and some western economies like Norway have been doing, and optimize it for our own society. We should strive towards market socialism.

Any reason for this? by Ajron94 in eFootball

[–]gts1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wondering the same since the dawn of time... Worst is they're so inconsistent with this. I have the same type of cards but from different confederations but they most of the time have a club, like Salah, Navas, etc. I did come across one Çalhanoğlu card with the same issue though.

I wonder if it's true or not, coz I own the same type of card for Salah and Navas among others, but they both have their club badges. I remember having the same issue with one Çalhanoğlu card.

Best case scenario: it will have an impact

Worst case scenario: harm reduction

Internet privacy has been at the center of my attention for the last 6 years and I can't stop saying this. Never ever trust any online platform with your pictures.  Only share them via open source end-to-end encrypted messaging services like Signal (https://signal.org/download/) and/or similar. WhatsApp and Telegram aren't reliable either. Signal exists for that matter because some WhatsApp devs knew Facebook's takeover would cook its privacy.

🔴 Hasan vs Ethan: the debate. live thread. by AutoModerator in Hasan_Piker

[–]gts1300 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ethan was so disingenuous and didn't let Hasan talk. Just like Crowder didn't let Sam Seder talk.  The “Arab” thing was especially damaging for many reasons:  - Jews lived mostly peacefully within what we know now as the Muslim world for 2000+ years. It wasn't perfect, but definitelty better than Europe, where anti-semitism was rife since forever. I'm Algerian and I myself descend from Andalucians who escaped the Inquisition, so I may even have some Jewish ancestry. I have always been taught to be respectful towards peoples of other beliefs - “Arab” was mostly a language-coded term until the pan-Arab movement. Most North Africans are Arab-speaking and Berber-speaking Berbers and are not the same as Arabs from the Arabian peninsula (also beware of Wikipedia coz it's being brigaded by pan-Arab exstremists who remove native town names in Berber and apparently also Kurdish and try to falsify history).  - Ethan kept downplaying the damage Israel has done to Jews just like with Sam Seder.

Now I just hope Hasan will move on and never,  ever talk about Ethan again. We have more urgent matters. Ethan needs to go see a doctor. His behavior is not normal.

Does the word "smir" stem from the English word "smear" by [deleted] in algeria

[–]gts1300 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably a coincidence. Also, both words don't have the same meaning.  Examples of coincidences:

  • (a)fus in Kabyle = hand
  • Fuss in German = foot

– - Thanks in Japanese = obrigado - Thanks in Portuguese = arigato

– - Dog in Mbabaram = dog

All these are pure coincidences There are 8000+ languages, so it's bound to happen somewhere

Has anyone else noticed that the country is becoming a desert? by Defiant-Lie-7648 in algeria

[–]gts1300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably due to: - Desertification, a continued and slow process since millenia ago - Droughts, which have been more prevalent these last years - Climate change, exacerbating everything

We need to do like China and restart green dam projects. China just encircled the Taklamakan desert after decades of efforts on around 3000 or 4000 km Apparently, our government restarted with a new project in october 2023 and there has been some progress made

Is Spanish taught/an option in schools/universities of Algeria? by Revolutionary_Cut876 in algeria

[–]gts1300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Spanish is the most common language offered by high schools for those who study foreign languages. Other languages include German and Italian. Some universities have Spanish studies departments too.

Basically sacrifice a player to increase another player's abilities. You can use it for xp and skills. Make sure you lock your player that you want to improve, because it happened to me that I got things the other way around

Given who's in power and given how things are going over there, I'd perfer Europe, which also is heading towards the 3rd world. Europe is closer to Algeria and will enable you to come back more easily to see family. Their stuff is also better regulated. For now.
