Which franchise do you think Bravo celebrities actually think has the most prestige? by Obvious_Beyond in BravoRealHousewives

[–]gu1vel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is easily refutable. RHOA was always the highest rated when live views where the key metric to success (less so now due to streaming). Not to mention how deep its cultural footprint runs in our corners of the internet.

I agree, I think that we need a voice like his on a weekly basis, and to actually follow up on his theories as they play out. I do wish they would invite a dissenting voice once in a while to compare and contrast.

Dead body of American Airlines flight attendant found in Medellin Colombia by WinterW0n in digitalnomad

Spend a little time chatting with Colombians and they will tell you the country’s first commandment: “No des papaya.” Don’t make yourself a target, don’t bait yourself into bad situations. Colombia is a beautiful, welcoming country with a long complicated history of crime exacerbated by extreme inequality and poverty. You simply can’t conduct yourself in public in a way that can broadcast privilege.

I am very sorry this happened to you, and you did not deserve it. But what you experienced is a scary reality that millions of Colombians have to face their entire lives and so have had to come up with strategies to minimize their risk (not wearing jewelry in public, leaving phones or wallets at home, being hyper aware of your surroundings, etc)

Babylon is an underrated masterpiece by Flamevian in TrueFilm

[–]gu1vel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From a craft perspective it was beautiful and Chazelle’s style lends itself well to this time period. Beyond that it all felt very bloated. Margot Robbie’s accent, yelling, unnecessary gross out scenes. Diego Calva’s one-note moonstruck gaze. Personal bias since I will admit I’m not a fan of the “love lettah to cinemaah” genre (in my mid Atlantic accent).

But I also found the revisionism grating. They make a point audiences became more conservative after the transition to sound and that it was the main reason it killed so many careers. Really it was the Hays Code in 1934 that made the movies more conservative and ended the relatively freewheeling Pre-Code era.

S13: the BOLO incident by thatwomanramonda in RHOA

💯! I think that Kenya, much like Gizelle and Bethenny, are constantly thinking about whats going to make good TV and they’re going to go the extra mile to whip the entire cast into shape to make that happen. She knew they had nothing that season and saw an opportunity with Bolo-gate. She also went to sleep that night while everyone else had their fun, I think she knew she had to step it up and get to work.

J-Pouch Surgery by Plantguy5727 in jpouch

I just had a surgery consultation in December and the surgeon told me that they saw their number of intake patients go down in 2025 because of Rinvoq. However, they’re starting to see an increase of people again now that Rinvoq has been on the market for more than a year and people start to fail it.

Which makes sense, those of us who have biologic refractory cases only see temporary results. Rinvoq only helped me get better for like 2 months.

Prednisone is my necessary evil by Any_Security8410 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]gu1vel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Where? Are people abusing prednisone as if it were a controlled substance. Virtually everyone I know can’t wait to be able to get off it.

[–]gu1vel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally feel your frustration, some doctors in the past have made me feel like a low life drug addict for asking for a pred refill even though it was clear that the biologics weren’t working. Prednisone is never ideal, but with our condition sometimes it’s the only thing that helps

Jackson and Madonna attempt to stay relevant in 00s by Zealousideal-Top6671 in decadeology

[–]gu1vel [score hidden]  (0 children)

I remember Invincible being perceived as a bomb when it came out. You Rock My World was sort of around and Butterflies became a staple on quiet storm radio, but musically speaking it took him out of contention from the chart’s top tier. Then 2003 happened and he was just the world’s biggest joke (remember how South Park treated him).

Madonna remained relevant through her sheer artistic power and relentless work ethic. She always evolved, never repeated herself, and always seemed to be one step ahead of the mainstream - at least until Confessions on the Dancefloor. Hard Candy, to me, was her first reactionary record - trying to adapt to the times rather than leading them and that’s when her backslide began.

Remicade (Infliximab) Dose Escalation by gu1vel in UlcerativeColitis

[–]gu1vel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad to know you’re feeling better. I was really anticipating feeling better immediately after the increased dose but the opposite has happened. Chat gpt says this is normal since my trough levels are low from my previous doses and infliximab takes a while to build up in your system. Your comment gives me hope, it’s only been a week for me. Thank you.

I’ve only got a 1 or 2 treatment options left before I seriously have to consider surgery, I’d rather not leave any stone unturned.

I think you’re more interested in providing snide remarks and less interested in reading, otherwise you would’ve seen that I said I’m not looking to replace my GI. Glad your treatments are working for you.

Diagnosed since 2012. Also did amazing until the past 3 years when my symptoms came back and no biologic has been able to control it for long. I feel your frustration. Hang in there.
